Maytag fridge model# MSD2561HES

My fridge is holding temp for now, but my freezer stopped working. I don't know how to fix it. I can't afford a new fridge. Are there reset buttons on this fridge/freezer?

Look inside the freezer for frost buildup on the rear wall. Let me know if there is frost building because that would indicate a defrost problem causing the warm up. Also check your model number because you are the only one on the internet with a model MSD2561HES for the USA Once you have the correct number and answer back about the frost buildup I will tell you each step to take solving this problem which I think is a defrost problem at this point, Thanks Sea Breeze I think your model has the adaptive defrost control board that may be at fault=> 4388932 Defrost Control Board

SOURCE: fridge not cool, freezer fridge temp

The most likely fault is a problem with the defrost cycle. The most likely is the defrost heater which should be a solid bar which is located directly underneath the coil. If you are capable then you can generally unplug the connectors for the heater and check that you have a resistance across the ends if the heater is faulty it will be open circuit. If it is not open circuit then it could be the defrost sensor or defrost timer at fault. You can also generally tell if the heater is warped or cracked. Hope this is of some help.

Defrost the fridge, take everything out of freezer and turn off for at least a day, check the drain is clear after defrosted and try again, if it happens again you may need a new defrost heater of timer.

SOURCE: fridge is warm even when i adjust temp. control.freezer is good.

if your fridge has 2 set of dials one numbers and the other letters than you need to adjust the dial that has letters on it. If the fan in your freezer is not blowing, then it won't force the cold air from the freezer to the fridge. Make sure fan blows then adjust the letter knob.

Fridge section not cooling enough but freezer OK

Is the fan blowing in the freezer section? Also, check to see if you have airflow thru the damper (vent) in the frig section.

Fridge too cold!

don't forget that just turning down your fridge temp dose not mean your problem might be over yet. the freezer setting may also be too high & that will affect your fridge temp as well. i set both my control settings to around 50% of what is on the scale & that works perfect for my 7 yr old fridge. also, very important, is make sure the freezer portion is going through it's full defrost cycles, or it will freeze the upper portion inside the fridge. you should not have any frost build up in your fridge, nor should you have any in your freezer. that's why they call them FROST FREE. try the slow temp decrease over a period of a few days & hopefully that will work for you. good luck.

I have a Maytag ref. the freezer is working but not the refrigerator. Mod # B1954MES00

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. Make sure this fan is running. You may have to hold the door switch in for it to run. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp.
The problem could be the electronic control if you have one or the mechanical linkages.

If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air and eventually affect the freezer too.

check defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat. In most newer models the timer has been replaced by an electronic control board. If the heater and thermostat are ok it'll be the control.

My maytag fridge isn't producing ice model #

see if the ice is frozen, there are three screws holding the ice maker in, two on top and one on bottom. The two top screws are teardrop screws and don't need to come all the way out. The bottom screw does need to come out. The electrical connection is a squeeze type and the unit should come out. Clean it out and re- insatll to see if that helps.

For a quick fix in this situation just thaw the coils out with a hairdryer.

Everything in my frig is frozen

There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp .. I don't know what he was doing with the putty unless he was stopping up the vent which won't work because you have to have the air circulation for the fridge section to work. The fridge temp control may be the problem.
