This error has re-occurred on three different PCs, all using licenced Acrobat 7.0 Pro. The problem remains the same on each machine - when combining correct single pdf files into one combined pdf file, especially on headers and sub-header lines in the combined pdf file we find that characters are missed out. They are correctly spelled in single pdf file but incorrect in combined, e.g. single pdf will have 'Project Name' and comined pdf will have ' ro ect N m '
Do you know of any similar instances and if so, what is causing this problem?
The 11 multiple pdf files range in size from 94kb to 263kb for a total of just ober 1Mb.
We have merged similar files before in exactly the same way but this is the first time we have encountered such a problem.
Your assistance would be gratefully appreciated.

Dear Wendy,
This can happen because of multiple reason:
a) It isn't your fault. The file publisher has not correctly made pdf or its corrupt and won't work on your system because all pdf files can be opened in almost all versions.
b)You might like to check your adobe 8.1 settings for complete installation. Have you correctly installed the program. Also check if you are able to other pdf files on your system or not.
c) you can also try an older version of acrobat, which i doubt should affect the problem.
Finally check the file extensions and password protection problems.
If that was helpful please press solved.

Do this:
1. Exit Acrobat.
2. Choose Start > Run, and type: %APPDATA%\Adobe\Acrobat\ into the Open text box. Click OK.
3. Right-click either the 6.0 or 7.0 folder, and choose Delete.
4. Start Acrobat and attempt to print.
Note:Acrobat preference files contain application settings such as toolbar arrangements. When you restart Acrobat, new preferences are created automatically based on application defaults. Deleting preference files will not result in the loss of saved documents.
Or, if u have having Quarkexpress in your machine update the version. Quarkexpress also creates PDF files, maybe this is where it was created from

SOURCE: Missing lines on PDF from a large TurboCad file
Will TurboCAD allow you to export to a .pdf instead of printing to a .pdf? Have you tried printing to a file (.prn) before turning the file to a .pdf? To print to a file, click Print Setup, there should be a box to check to Print To File. Make sure you check that box. Then you should be asked to pick a file format which should be .prn if you are using windows. After you create the .prn file, then open Acrobat and convert the .prn to a .pdf. I hope this helps you with your problem. Printing can be a pain with CAD programs.
Have you tried appending to the document? this should give you the option to add multiple files to..

PROBLEM RESOLVED.
Problem caused by an incorrectly converted pdf file from an Excel 2003 worksheet. The worksheet had imbedded print titles.
Acrobat PDFmaker cannot create tags, bookmarks, comments and links with print Titles. Asked it to ignore the tags but was still incorrect. Cleared the printtitles in Page Setup. Converted 100%. Multiple file conversion thereafter was also correct.
Many Thanks.
