Dishwasher filled with water even though cycle was finished.

My Maytag Jetclean will fill with water even after it has completed its cycle. Must the machine be manually turned to off after each cycle? Could it start filling with water when not truned on even when cycle is finished just becasue it is not manually truned off? Could there be another reason for it to start fillling with water when cycle has completed?

The same problem accures with some types of washing machines, when you turn on the machine the control switch sends a signal to a valve on the mains water supply inside the back of your machine telling it to open the problem accours if you live in an area that has hard water because lime scale builds up in this valve so when you switch it off the valve is in the open position because of a lime scale build up, i would say it needs an new valve.adrian

It is just not cleaning the dishes. Runs - OK

Hi

If you are noticing that the dishes are not clean, then there are a few things to check for. Check the soap powder if it's kept in a dry environment. Also try replacing the powder with something like a gel or liquid. Next thing to check for is the water pressure and fill valve. Check if the water is filling in and the spray arms are throwing the water with enough pressure. Try and listen to the sound if you hear a proper spraying action sound.

If it seems as a low water pressure then check the fill valve. Now, check if dishwasher is draining the water or not. While the dishwasher is working check whether the dishwasher is draining and there is not much left out water after the cycle is complete. Try cleaning the spray arm with a soft brush. The water temperature plays a major role in cleaning of dishes. The temp should be between 125 and 150 F for dishwasher to clean the dishes. Hope this helps...

The dishwasher goes through the cycles but will not fill with water on some cycles.

Hi

When the Dishwasher is not filling in, you'll need to check for the water inlet valve, the filter screen and the float switch/assembly. Also check for the float assembly inside the dishwasher. When water is filling your dishwasher, a float rises along with it. As the float reaches a certain threshold level, it shuts off the flow of water, thereby preventing a leak. Sometimes the float can get stuck in the wrong position in your dishwasher, and it can prevent your dishwasher from filling. Sometimes it can happen due to float valve and on other occasions due to float switch. Inspect the water hose coming to the dishwasher for any blockages.

If these are fine then it's due to Water Inlet Valve. Use a multimeter and check for the continuity on inlet valve. If you don't get any value on the multimeter hen you'll need to replace the water inlet valve assembly.

Please post back for any further assistance.

Water is not getting into the unit at all - maytag dishwasher model mdb7160aww

Make sure you get water to the dishwasher. Check to see if the water shut-off valve (located under the sink) is open. If you get water to the dishwasher, but there is still no water inside during the fill cycle, the problem might be with a faulty water valve (located at the bottom of the dishwasher, behind the kick panel, on either side), in which case replace the water valve.

Dishwasher fills, when the pump is supposed to start it just whir

Hello, sounds like a broken wash impeller or a stripped drive impeller (the piece that fits inside the impeller). These two parts are driven by the wash motor and propell the water through the spray arms. good luck
