Actually if you have the old one running windows server 2000, it does. Monitor and keyboard in the back with bios options to allow a ps/2 mouse. Any issues they have should be able to be fixed via that setup. Mine on the other hand will not boot past the Win Server 2000 splash screen. Good luck to all.

The connections are located on the back under plastic covers.

The Maxtor 4300 does NOT allow you to connect a physical keyboard, mouse or monitor. It does allow you to connect rj45.

Since no one has posted on this I?ll give you my best guess. Disclaimer, I don?t have one of these, Maxtor is now owned by Seagate, they have discontinued support and I can?t find a manual. Having said all of that from what I?ve read this runs Windows 2000 server and allows you to physically connect a keyboard, mouse and monitor to it. I would try connecting these external devices to the box, boot up and try logging in. If you literally don?t know ANY of the passwords you can try booting the system with a utility tool that will find and remove the administrator password. There are several of them readily available (usually Linux based) available for free, here is the link for one: http://home.eunet.no/%7Epnordahl/ntpasswd/. That will allow you to log into the operating system and configure it as you wish. Be aware that this is not supported by Microsoft and could wind up corrupting the operating system. At that point the only option would be to rebuild the server software from scratch. Good luck and let us know how it goes or if you have any other questions.

I have lost the password to my LaCie NAS but don't

hi
yes you have to google and download the software and burn it to a disk to be able to reset it or by pass the windows software.

if its a bios password then it will depend on the make and model of the laptop some you only have to remove the cmos battery and others need the manufacturers intervention but you need prove of purchase.

whilst others need a device and soldering onto the chip to remove the password.

cheers

I picked up a Fastora NAS-T4, but the previous owner no longer recalls the root password on the device. Is there anyway to reset the device to factory defaults? I see no 'reset' buttons available on it.

Turn off the NAS.
Press AND HOLD power button for about 30 secs.
That will force a hard reset and reset the unit to factory defaults. You will lose all data on drives that are plugged in at the moment. If they are in an ejected state, it may save your data, but I have not tried that.

Good morning. I have installed in my Company a Iomega nas model 450R. This morning after a reboot,it seems it can't find the boot disk and the nas asks for a operating system restore or go back to factory...

It seems that the main hard drive in this server either went bad, had a windows corruption or that one of the internal connections inside this server went bad.

You would need to check on all three of these areas to make sure 1) the main hard drive is functional (which is my first suspision so check the hard drive for errors and if it fails you would need to do a data transfer to a new hard drive). 2) use your windows software to repair the dammaged registry that may have been corrupted somehow (only do this if the main server's hard drive passes its hardware tests).

You would need to run the original os but I would need to know which one you are using to guide you more to solving the regisrty issue.

3) Hopefully tis server has a warrenty and it may need replacing if all else is working.

Try #1 which is the highest supected for failed hard drive issue (remember if discovered that main hd is bad you may need to perform a data transfer immediatly and replace with a new hard drive.

any other questions please write back with status :)

Formatting a hard drive

The NAS device should have a utility to prepare the drive for use.

NAS Drive by ADS Tech not recognized on network.

You can log into your router and find out what IP address has been assigned to your NAS unit.

Then start up Internet Explorer Or Firefox and go to the address http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (replace with the IP address of the NAS unit).

That should get you in. Then you will have to set the workgroup and share parameters. Once you have it setup you can always map the NAS unit and use it as a external hard drive.
