This sounds so simple, but this is what i gathered from Sony's website. Sounds to me like it may be a service issue.

The STANDBY light will flash if the television detects an issue within the television. Some of these issues can be resolved simply by following the steps below to reset the television.
If the issue is still unresolved after following all of the troubleshooting steps, service may be required . Please note the number of times the STANDBY light flashes and relay that information to the service center.

  1. Turn off the television. IMPORTANT: For a projection television that uses an internal lamp, wait 5 minutes after turning off the television to allow the lamp to cool before continuing with the following steps.
  2. Unplug the television power cord from the electrical outlet.
  3. Let the television remain without power for 60 seconds.
  4. Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet. NOTE: If the television is plugged into a power strip or surge protector, remove it from the power strip or surge protector and plug it directly into the wall outlet. If the issue is resolved, the problem is with the power strip or surge protector and not the television.
  5. Turn on the television.

My tv won't turn on anymore. The red light flashes 6 times then pauses for a couple seconds then starts flashing six times again. Just keeps doing it repeatedly

try unplugging the tv and waiting a minute and try it again if its still the same? It sounds like a Capicitor problem on the Power supply.

Tv won't turn on...light flashes red 6 times

According to Sony's diagnostic chart, a six blink code means the plus/minus 17 volt line is not being supplied from the G1 board. (The Power Supply). I would replace the G1 board and that should fix your problem.
I hope this helps,

My KDF-55XS955 Wega shuts off by itlself goes into standby mode and flashed red 6 times, what can this be?

Replace the lamp...should solve problem. If you recently replaced the lamp, perhaps it is not in securely or the door is not secure. Check these and the reset lamp from main menue on remote. Hope this helps.
