First go to Lexmark.com... Download the necessary software / drivers. Install the drivers first and then turn on the printer and connect the usb cable to the laptop and the printer will be installed. Here is a link to Lexmark.
Make Your Selection
If no software is available, it means the drivers are already included in your OS. Just plug the printer in the usb port & Windows will install it.

You need to connect either via USB cable or serial cable. If you dont have a serial port on your laptop you should need a USB to serial converter. Than you just have to install the drivers for the printer if it is not plug and play. You can search for them on Google. Ask me if you need more details.

do one thing first uninstall your printer from system
now remove all cables data(usb /lpt)
now reinstall software first after a reboot
now connect the printer thriough usb or lpt cable
also check for port through which printer is connected to system
by clicking on printer properties

Thermal printers seem to be notorious for that.

Try using Vista's "Generic/Text" printer driver (you'll need to go into device manager, select to update the drivers, go to Have Disk, select "generic" as the brand). That will send raw text to the printer. Many thermal printers support this.

After you do that, you will also need to go into your printer settings and setup a custom page size that matches the size of your labels. Then you should be good to go.

Try this:

1. Make sure the only printer connected is your hp printer that you are having problems

2. From your control panel go to system then go to device manager

3. Under universal serial bus controllers, look for usb printer or any usb printing device you see there and uninstall it.

4. Disconnect your usb cable from the printer and your computer

5. Uninstall the driver from the add/remove programs or hp's driver software uninstaller

6. Restart your computer

7. Download the latest driver from hp's website or use the cd installer

8. Plug in the usb cable from both ends and restart again the computer
