Sound not coming

I have compaq presario c785tu pc sound and audio not working . control panel shows no audio device . in device manager other device is marked question mark .conesant 221 is also not getting installed it says no media device found . pls help

Go to device manager r. click on th ! icon → update driver → find driver automatically.. if this fails r.click and go to properties → drivers → advanced → rollback drivers.. this wont work tho if uv recently reinstalled or repaired windows because u need to reinstall drivers after doing that.. if u have either an xp setup disk or motherboard setup disk run and press have disk and select th drive (usually D:\ or higher) th setup disk is in..

make sure that your mic input is not muted. look under control panel/sound and audio devices, then under your microphone, select "volume" and make sure the input is selected (with a chack mark in the box under the mic volume control) and not muted.

Check Device Manager - check the Sound adapter to see if it is working and enabled. If not then the wrong audio driver was installed.

Sound is comming headphone and speaker Simultaneously
go to control panel and find the device manager, you can also get thier by clicking the my computer icon and selecting manage, once their find the audio device drivers and uninstall them, then reboot, it will reinstall automaticly and you should be on your way, if not try opening the audio preferences from the control panel, goign to devices and the n selecting one or the other as the output

What is the OS of your laptop - XP or Vista? Basically, you need to reinstall the driver or software of your sound card.

Here is the link where you can download the driver:

Select the driver for Conexant High-Definition Audio Driver.
