Try restart with pressing F8 while powering on that should take you to SAFE mode and then you can find out if operating system is still alive

SOURCE: Screen to gateway NV59 won't turn on

If your laptop appears to boot up and the hard disk LEDflashes, then the problem is probably a back light fault. This can be a faultyinverter or a faulty CCFL lamp. Please click on this link and follow myinstructions to identify the fault and possible fix :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r3598095-faulty_laptop_lcd_screen

SOURCE: my medion akoya laptop won't load past intel screen

This is a hard drive issue or windows have corrupt files, if you have the installation disc try and reload the operational system, if no change! have the hardware checked out at a computer repair store.

Why won't my Gateway PC DVD drive close?

Are all the Windows and Gateway updates and Hotfixes in? Look for a DVD rom fix on the Gateway website support. If there is no disk in the drive and it opens, you may want to replace it. You can try a work-around, I have no idea if it will solve the problem, but at boot open the BIOS, go to Boot sequence, Change HDD to boot first. DVD/CDrom 2nd or 3rd.

Gateway MP8708 Won't boot past BIOS and won't boot into CD/USB/Safe Mode on XP - Blank screen with keyboard dead - Num locks on and wireless light

Somehow your MBR (Master Boot Record) likely got corrupted or possibly your hard drive went bad coincidentally.

Simply, you will start your computer from your Windows CD/DVD install disk, then when at a DOS prompt ( D:\ ) you will then type: FDISK /MBR (press enter).

Find your Operating System install DVD and start your computer with it, then follow instructions within this discussion:
Restore Windows XP MBR without Windows XP disc

Alternatively, review my search results for other instructions:
fdisk mbr windows xp Google Search

Gateway MP8708 Won't boot past BIOS and won't boot into CD/USB/Safe Mode on XP - Blank screen with keyboard dead - Num locks on and wireless light

Windows won't start up? Well, try this Download Tenorshare Data Recovery from its offical site and install it. Burn it into CD/DVD, or USB flash, put into the computer you need to repair, Bios setting. It can make sure your important data will not lose. Best of luck

Sometimes when I shut down my laptop when next I want to power it,it will only show the power led,the screen won't display, the memory is ok.but anytime I loose the cooling fan from the processor and I...

It sounds like its overheating, but don't try and run the system without the heatsink and fan in place as this is sure to burn out the processor.
You need to make sure the heatsink is sitting on the processor and you should apply some thermal paste where the two meet to aid cooling. Make sure all the vents are clear of dust and the fan is working and is clean & is on the right way round, i.e. blowing down on the heatsink.

It wont boot, goes to black screen with whit blinking dash

Yes, this sounds like the traditional black screen issue, but it's different! This machine is a Dell Dimension 3000 with XP. System won't boot. After Blue Dell BIOS splash screen with F2 & F12 options, it just goes black. There will ultimately be a white cursor in the upper left hand corner. I can edit BIOS with F2, I can get in to the boot menu with F12, but I can't do anything after that. I can even get in to the Safe Mode menu (F8), but it never boots.
