When I turn on my mitsubishi vs-50605, there is sound and a picture, but the picture rolls both horizontally and vertically....sort of converging between the two of them in the middle of the screen. I am not very adapt with electronics, and when I took the back cover off of the TV, I hadn't the slightest idea what everything was, nevermind how to fix it. Is this a common problem you think I could fix, or is it destined for the trash dump? Any direction you can give me would be a great help, as my son and I really enjoy watching football and Christmas specials on the big screen! Thank-you so much, Bryan McLaughlin

Put it back to the mid point of it's adjustment range.
If the V hold won't stop the picture rolling at some point in its adjustment range then the circuit that it affects has drifted out of tolerance. The defective parts in that circuit need to be replaced.
A rolling picture or loss of vertical sync can be caused by several components including a bad signal board or jack panel assy. You will not be able to resolve this yourself. contact a Mitsubishi authorized service center.
1. VERTICAL ROLLING, ALSO MAY HAVE HORIZONTAL PULLING OR TEARING. REPLACE C2C52 10 UFD @ 50 V OFF THE BASE OF Q2C51 ON THE SIGNAL PCB. 2. REPLACE C2P05 100 UFD 16 V OFF PIN 3 OF IC2P01 AND IC2P01 PART # 270P466020 (9-VOLT REGULATOR). BOTH ARE ON THE SIGNAL PCB.
It should not be that costly, always get an estimate, if you can't repair it yourself. Don't worry about the light bulb, it should be okay, as long as the picture color is ok. Good Luck, big IRISH.
Good Day, marvy21; try theses ideas, they will fix the TV # 3 is most common, you might start there.
1). VERTICAL ROLLING, VERTICAL BLANKING BAR LOCKING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE PICTURE, ALSO MAY HAVE HORIZONTAL PULLING OR TEARING. CHECK C2C52 10 UFD @ 50 V OFF THE BASE OF Q2C51 ON THE SIGNAL PCB. 2). CHECK C2P05 100 UFD 16 V OFF PIN 3 OF IC2P01 AND IC2P01 PART # 270P466020 (9-VOLT REGULATOR). BOTH ARE ON THE SIGNAL PCB.2). CHECK C2P05 100 UFD 16 V OFF PIN 3 OF IC2P01 AND IC2P01 PART # 270P466020 (9-VOLT REGULATOR). BOTH ARE ON THE SIGNAL PCB.
3). CHECK C2P05 100 UFD 16 V OFF PIN 3 OF IC2P01 AND IC2P01 PART # 270P466020 (9-VOLT REGULATOR). BOTH ARE ON THE SIGNAL PCB. Good Luck, big IRISH.
The problem may be related to bad capacitors on the PIP module. This is a commom fault as vertical sync runs through the PIP board and this is the symptom of the pip board having bad capacitors the TV rolls.

is this a horizontal black line going up or down? if yes, this sympton is caused by a trouble in the integrated circuit or in the vertical oscillator circuit.
this symptons has 2 variations. one is the intermittent rolling of the picture. this referred to as the "loose vertical hold" the other variations is the continuous upward or downward rolling of the picture
