If there's a garbage disposal unit, that may be the problem .
Check the hose that runs from the dishwasher to the side of the disposal. If it's clogged with food stuff, the dishwasher might back up and not wash properly.

Pump has been replaced but did not pump water out when running diagnostic cycle

If the pump has been replaced and the dishwasher is still not pumping water out during the diagnostic cycle, there are a few things you can try:
  1. Check the drain hose: Make sure the drain hose is not clogged or kinked. A clogged or kinked drain hose can prevent the dishwasher from draining properly.
  2. Check the drain valve: The drain valve controls the flow of water out of the dishwasher. If it is faulty, the dishwasher may not drain properly. Test the drain valve to make sure it is functioning properly.
  3. Check the float switch: The float switch is a safety feature that prevents the dishwasher from overfilling with water. If it is stuck or faulty, it can prevent the dishwasher from draining properly.
  4. Check the control board: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, there may be a problem with the dishwasher's control board. A faulty control board can prevent the dishwasher from draining properly.
If you are not comfortable performing these steps yourself, it may be best to contact a professional dishwasher repair service for assistance.

This thing has never drained properly. You have to hit the cancel/drain button a few times for it to finally drain. I don't think it drains completely after wash and before rinse because everything comes...

If its never drained properly, then perhaps it was installed incorrectly. Check that the drain hose goes up and over the machine before connecting to the homes drain pipe.

KitchenAid dishwasher allows water to drain while washing

Your dishwasher is siphoning the water out. The drain hose should turn upward, nearly to the bottom side of the counter top, before it attaches to the drain or disposal. If it has an independant drain it still needs the rise and also needs an air break to stop the siphoning.

Will not reset or drain water

HI, usually, if the dishwasher dose not drain properly, it will be the fault of a defective or, malfunctioning pump. i will list several problem areas to check. Inspect each area properly and, replace any component that is faulty or fouled.

1. Air gap / Drain hoses
If there is an air gap (located in the sink, near the faucet), check to see if it is clogged. Unscrew the top cap and see if there is anything blocking inside. Note: If there is no air gap installed, the dishwasher might not drain properly.

If the drain hose is clogged, the dishwasher would not drain. If there is an air gap installed, it is very common that a hose going from the air gap into the garbage disposer is clogged. Remove and clean the hose. Make sure to reattach the hose before starting the dishwasher.

Note: If you recently had a garbage disposer installed, it is common to overlook removing the drain plug.

2. Broken belt
Some dishwasher models use a belt to drive the pump. Replace the belt if found broken.

Note: Sometimes the belt would just come off the pump. Even though it might not be broken, it is recommended that you replace the belt, because it is probably too stretched out.

3. Pump
Some models have two impellers inside the pump - one, wash impeller, takes care of the wash cycles, the other, drain impeller, drains the water out. If the drain impeller is broken (broken blades, shaft), the dishwasher would not drain. Replace any broken pump components.

4. Drain solenoid
Some models (for example most GE dishwashers) use a drain solenoid to drain water out. Sometimes the solenoid gets stuck, preventing the water from draining out. Try to free up the solenoid. If unsuccessful, you might have to replace the pump assembly.

5. Motor
If the motor is stuck, it is sometimes possible to free it up by manually spinning the motor.

Replace the motor if defective.

6. Timer or control board
Replace if defective (note: uncommon problem).

Dishwasher not spraying/pumping water in wash cycle

If your dishwasher is filling, draining and the heating element is working then the wash pump motor has probably failed.

You have not provided the manufacturer and model number, so I have no way of knowing if your dishwasher has a separate drain and wash pump motor.

DIshwasher doesn't drain or fill

Hello annie8866,
First off.. unplug power and then reapply power to it for a little while to see if a power reset will put it back in the proper sequence.. next, check inside the base for a drain inlet and a filter/screen and clean anything you see out of it.. Then try cycling it without dishes to see if it will run thru a cycle and drain properly.. Its ok to add a cup or two of white vinegar during the wash process to remove byproducts of the wash from the inner components.. Make sure the drain hose is not clogged or kinked up.. Try these things and get back to me if it is still misbehaving..
