On the base unit ( where you place the phone on) there is a button at the lower right that looks like a "0" with a slash over it. Press that to delete any button. If you need a manual for the phone go to this site:

Whether it is tape or digital you have to delete old answers. Just get in the habit in deleting a message right away in you don't need it or after you have written down the info you need.

Answering machine does not work
Sounds like your settings changed. Refer to owners manual. Make sure your line is plugged in and the settings are set so the answering machine answers on a certain ring. Sometimes the answering machine may be fulkl and you need to delete messages to make room for more.

You can call my phone and leave a message as usual so it seems as if the answering machine is working but when you look at the answering machine it has zero messages.
Make sure you have enough memory left. Delete all old messages first.

DELETE MESSAGE Press and release 3 while the message is playing.
DELETE ALL MESSAGES After you have listened to all messages and heard the
