Kenwod TK-280 keypad locked how to unlock keypad

The 280TK keypad is locked and I only can R/T on one frequency. How do I "unlock" the keypad

The TK280 portable is a trunking/conventional two way. It does not support digital communication. There is no upgrade available short of a new radio. By the way...new digital radios are very pricey so be prepared to spend some $$$. Good luck.

you might have a typo on the model number the closest manual i could find is for a KENWOOD TK 380

Tk-380 displays PROG 57600 and will not program

This is hardware oriblem and any cp ik ohm is open. You trouble shoot it and replace it with new ik ohms cp, This will arround cpu.

After programming a TK-630 the display flashes, does this indicate VCO unlocked?

Also this indication is due to you put out of range frequency, check you frequency, it must be with Radio operating band.

Kenwood tk-380 when i turn it on and leave it sitting for little while, it gets extremely hot and is killing my batteries....
