Fn keys hi, I am having problems with my keys. My baby was pressing some keys and now some of them dont work properly. The keys on the right hand side have numbers on them. If i type the letter it will type the number that is on the key unless I press the Fn key. What can I do to reset it?

It sounds like your FN key may be stuck. One simple thing that you might want to try would be to pick up a can of compressed air from a local electronics shop and use it to clean around and under all of the keyboard keys, but especially around the FN key. If there is something lodged around or underneath a particular key, this will sometimes clear it up.

You could try press the F11 key which is normally the number lock key top left hand side of the keyboard

or if that dont work try the Fn blue key bottom left of keyboard at same time as the F11 key

so either F11

or

Fn+F11

i hope this works for you

do you have a manual for your laptop because hopefully that will explain things about your laptop

if not you could download one from the laptop manufacturer and you will need to save the manual to your desktop and install adobe reader to be able to read it Free Download

type into your search the name of your laptop plus manual or support

if your laptop was a acer www.acer.com if a hp www.hp.com if a compaq www.compaq.com etc etc then go to support/downloads type in your make model and operating system and look for the manual

good luck

SHIFT KEYS NOT WORKING PROPERLY

Please try to deactivate the Fn (function) key. That will help you get rid of your problem. Press Fn key + Numlock key once and try again. You can also try pressing the Fn key once and type letters in any word processor program with the key combination everytime you press the Fn key once. E.g. open the notepad, press Fn once and after that press ) with Shift.

If you have problem, let me know.

Good luck.

FUNCTION KEYS & OTHER RIGHT HAND SIDE KEYS

That means that you turned on the numlock on the laptop keyboard, On an acer if im not mistaken you have to press one of the function keys to deactivate it. Look for the icon with NUM on it and press it. if that does not work you may have to press FN then that icon.
