TV would not turn on when power button is pushed. Removed back cover and noticed a blown fuse, replaced fuse, but when I tried to plug tv into outlet, fuse blew again, repeated this process twice. Each time fuse blew. Any suggestions? Looking for help, before taking to a repair shop. Thanks. Bruce

Hi Michael,
Yes there is a fuse in your TV too and sometimes you do escape with a blown fuse after a power outage. Please open if you can the back cover of your TV, locate the fuse. If you do not see any damaged or blown parts, replace the fuse with the same rating. If the works, enjoy watching. If the fuse blows again, the power board needs to be repaired or replaced.
Good luck.
For the first step, try using the button on the TV itself.
Secondly, check if the power cord is snug, and not burnt. Sometimes after a blackout, there would be a power surge, and that might burn your plug.
If both doesn't work, the fuse in your TV may be blown, or the Power Supply may also be burnt too. If this happens, you're going to have to hire an expert to help replace the broken parts.
Note that in some TV models, the fuse can be replaced by users. If this is your case, try checking the fuse to see if it's blown or not.
Sounds like a cap or fuse has blown in the set, you will need to take the back cover of and have a look, check on the power board for any blown caps, you will notice them straight away if one has poped, also check any fuses that may have blown they will also need to be replaced.
The main a/c fuse is likely blown -6.3A 250VAC- Replace with a 7A 250VAC.
To replace - remove back cover - once removed follow a/c cord to TV and fuse is on the board close by. google "GMA fuse" images to see what fuse looks like -the one without leads -clip in type.
Got it fixed. Removed back off tv and found the fuse right where the cord enters. Removed fuse[didn't look like it was blown] and got new one from radio shack, installed and now the tv works. That was all it was. Thanks again
the loss of power was do to a blown fuse. could not access it through the small opening near where the power cord went in at the back of set.. carefully took the back of just far enough to access the fuse and replaced it. Working fine.
check the main fuse in the tv. test it with a multimeter, not visually. if its the thermistor that blew the fuse, it is very difficult to see the break in the wire. replace if blown. if unit blown fuse again withing a couple of weeks replace the thermistor in the degausing circuit.
good luck.
