Sony KF-E42 Blue ghost on left of screen. Also seem to be a yellow tint to centre and left of screen. Right portion of screen seems to be ok.

I risk getting a bad rating from you for telling you this, but it sounds like a bad optical block. If the problem is visible on all inputs, and you can see the blue and yellow in the menu and on screen display, that would pretty much confirm a bad optical block. You can figure $800 - $1000 for an optical block plus labor.
