Do the self check this 2001 model (what is model number?)
When green light comes on and goes off on the front of the set press and hold both the menu and input buttons for at least 5 seconds and release both.

Power light will blink a two digit error code like 2 blinks, 2 blinks, a pause and repeat it several times.

Let me know what you find.

Where do I find the model number?

Parts to fix will cost more than a new LCD and will use a lot less power.

Only had the machine a couple of weeks and now it won't switch on. I had left it plugged in and switched on over night (I have tried changing the fuse and that didn't fix it)?

Possibly internal fuse or thermal cut out gone. perhaps best to have checked by Technician.....Check your power source is okay first...

When I use the presser foot nothing happens. The machine is plugged in, turned on and everything is set up correctly. I was told my a not so reliable source that the motor may be shot. But, the machine...

even though it's only used moderately the motor can go out,
does the light come on?
try plugging the sewing machine into a different outlet
check to make sure the power cord is pushed all the way in
it also may be the power cord itself that has gone out
it could also be the on & off switch

My SONY STR-DE835 receiver amplifier is showing PROTECTOR on the digital readout.Anybody know what that means.

These models are known for this issue.
I've had my share in the shop here.
Disconnect all speakers, turn speakers off, try headphones only
If it still persists then there is either :
1. power supply capacitors gone bad or 2. The thermal fuse in the transformer is open.
A tech can very easily find out if the thermal fuse is open by checking the primary of the transformer
if the plastic is shrinking away from the power supply capacitors then they've gone bad

Food for thought: I had a buzzing that affected only one analog source and it was associated with my track lighting being on. They told me the fader was defective so I replaced it. It was still there but it has since gone dormant and I don't know why. Just the same, I avoid using the track lighting if I'm listening to anything.
