I recently purchased a used NEC Multisync LCD 1565 monitor. While connected to a PC and when the monitor and PC are powered up the LED light goes green on the monitor and the screen flashes a solid Blue Color. Then during the boot up process the screen flashes a solid green color and then goes black, but you can determine that the back light is still lit. I have tested the graphics card wth another monitor and it is working just fine. With the unit not connected to a PC and powered up the same solid blue screen flashes, then approximately 10 seocnds later the solid green screen flashes and the monitor goes into a standby mode with the LED light changing to a orange color. Unfortunately, I am unable to have the monitor on screen menu display in order to reset to the factory settings. Any suggestions on how to proceed?

In the LCD1830 the inverter for the backlight always burns out. They are fairly easy to replace when you remove the back to get inside. A new one is available from MoniServ for $69.99. http://www.lcdpart.com/Products/uhp061104mss.html

The power supply section may be failed, or there may be a short on one of the boards causing the monitor to cycle through the protect mode.

This is the common bad capacitor problem. The caps have died inside, and they can be replaced. If you have basic electronics skills, you can go in, order replacement caps, and unsolder and resolder. If you can't do it yourself, you can take it into a shop.
Here is a link to the Cap plague that explains what happens in detail. But I repair these all the time with that symptom.

You have to install the nec driver for this monitor. I have the same monitor. Im looking for the driver now. There are 2 versions of this monitor with the same model # . You will need to find the driver to the touchscreen model.

The power button is the top button on the right side of the monitor.
