My power supply failed on my PLTV-32 after about three years. Was unable to find an exact replacement, but ordered one from LCDPAYLESS.COM for $125.00 - Item No. ADP-2412V-4P. Just received it, not quite what I expected, it's actually two separate power supplys spliced into one, but it works fine (for the moment).
I found a power supply for this TV on Ebay but it is about $150.00 and is not guaranteed for more than a month.I found it after I sent for one that did not work with the TV.If I do try the right spec unit...12V 3Amp with light and fan and it works, I will try to get back to inform you all....CDM
Just wanted to let you all know that I recently had to deal with the same problem with my ac adaptor failing (blue light off and the fan not working, no power to the tv). I did a lot of searching and found out Protron/SpectronIQ is filing for bankruptcy!! I also didn't feel like giving $150 to LCD Payless when I'm seeing posts that their "replacement" isn't working either. Long story short: I found a guy in my area that was able to FIX my ac adaptor!! Now my TV is working again. I've seen so my posts from people with this problem and I figured others would want to know. Just wanted to thank the poster that recommended Dave. ([email protected]) Mailed him our kaput ac adapter and he sent it back, fixed, used better parts - and it works beautifully. Fast service too. He does only give a 30 day warranty, but we have had no problems. Highly recommend. He saved us from having to buy another tv!
Just purchased LCD payless's ac adapter for 142.00 and so far it's working great. It's nice because there's no light and no fan noise like the Protron adapter.
I had the same problem with my ac adaptor for my Protron LCD TV failing. I started to read the seemingly hundreds of messages online from all those having the same problem. Very long story short, after doing a lot of research and searching (calling Protron/SpectronIQ and finding out they are filing for bankruptcy!!) I found a guy in my area that is good with electronics and was actually able to REPAIR MY AC ADAPTOR!! The TV is working great now! If anyone is interested in getting in touch with him and seeing if he can fix your adaptor as well, his email is [email protected] He charged nowhere near what they are charging on ebay for the supposed "replacement" that people are also having problems with. My original power adapter finally stopped working about 3 months ago (after having the set for 3 years). I found the only place to get a replacement adapter was on EBay, which I bought for about $140 (including shipping). The new adapter was two adapters connected together. Anyway, just to let you know the new adapter that I have had for 3 months is now not working properly - not enough power seems to be coming from the adapter to power the TV, so the picture 'flicks' on a off every few seconds. After only 3 months!!!!!!
I am trying to contact the guy on EBay but the warenty was only one month. Is there no pride in making a decent product anymore? This TV sucks! And getting proper parts is a joke!
I have bought another TV now - a SAMSUNG. No more no-name brands for me. I am going to stick with the well know brands in future.
We fought with the people we bought this TV from and never did get any satisfactory resolution. I can tell you that we ordered an adapter from them and it DID NOT solve the problem so it is not the adapter. Finally, we just gave the TV to a TV repairman to play with and he still has it. We have another TV - learned a very valuable lesson.
I had the same problem with my ac adapter, after I heard about this company problems with customer services, I sent a complaint to attorney general of california, after that I they sent me a new ac adaptor for free....
This is a very easy to fix problem for a tech, but maybe dificult to regular people, bet you got a broken solder in the power suply input to the tv, move the cable terminal and see if the picture comes, any way is a job for a tech...good luck fan only work when the power supply drain higth current as the video is on....

when i turn my protron hdmi tv on i have sound(but it is coming form my surround sound system hooked up to a cable box)and my screen stays black and by black i mean it doesn't change at all from the black it is while it is off.i tried turning it off and on, and waiting with it on for a while, and unplugging it and flipping the power switch.what is wring with it.

I have a Protron LCD 32" TV, which worked until Tanksgiving day. It appears that the AC Power adaptor stopped working (the little blue light in the adaptor flashes and goes out immediately) the power indicator light on the adaptor does light up at all and the fan doesn't start. I call protron and adaptors are on back order (note: the AC Adaptors are made in China - which means they may never work more than a week). Has anyone ever found a solution to the adaptor pproblem? Warning never buy a Protron TV, and if you do note that call the support number is like jumping into Hell with gasoline soaked underwear....your ass is going to get burned!!!!
This had been happening since day 1 for me. Finally, last night while watching the news, the AC adapter completely shut off and has not come back on since. I unplugged then replugged it and the little blue light teases and shuts right off. I will be writing to my attorney general about this.
I have the same problem but my problem is not as bad as the other people. It does go blank or black sometimes during a show and sometimes it does not even turn on but it only last a few minutes. I had the set for about 4 years now and notice that this problem is getting worse in time. eventually it may not work any more. Â In addition universal remotes do not work with the protron tv because they do not provide any code to anyone. Â Good luck on trying to get technical help with this product. Â Customer service is horrible with this company.
We bought the protron pltv-32 in june of 2005 from shop nbc and it worked fine. Today we went to shut it off from the off button (The remote stopped working a few months ago) on top of the tv and it went off but not the sound. We then tried to put it back on and it didnt go on. We had to shut the power off at the plug.
We called protron and was told it was the adapter and would cost $137.00 plus S&H. and would take 3weeks to get.
We decided to check out best buy and circut city to see if they had the adapter, and was told they don't carry protron. (had too many problems with them) We spent $1299 on this TV from shopnbc and they cannot do anything for us. If anyone has an answer in solving this problem, please let us know. I'll never buy anything else from this shopping club. By the way, they do not sell protron TVs anymore. Wonder Why!! John & Marge

Unfortunately, I can be added to the list of unsatisfied customers. My ac adapter stopped working approx. 1.5 years after purchase. I contacted the company which informed me to send them a check or money order for the cost of the adapter plus S&H. Once, they have deposited the check/money order they would mail out the part which by the way would take approx. 3 weeks (no guarantee on arrival or quality of the replacement part) . Of course, I refused to send the money and decided to take a loss on the televison. A hard lesson learned for a mother of two. Good luck everyone!!

No power had TV less than 2 yrs old technician said power box need to be replace but no where to get parts.
I also reported the company to the attorney general of California. Unfortunately they did not send me a free adaptor. This company is a rip off stay away! If anyone wants to buy my old adaptor and try to salvage it for parts...I'll sell it. 703 303 1185!
Sometimes the audio will come on & no video. I unplug it a while & then plug it back in & the video & audio come on. What is wrong with my TV? I only have it on 2-3 hours at night.
