Not sure if this will help or not, as Im not familiar with this model but if you visit the Denon site and download either the AVR-2500 or AVR-2800, they may be similar enough to get you what you need. Be sure to click the box that says "Search Archived Products" Home Stereo System and Headphone Spec Sheet Downloads Denon
Check the polarity (+/-) of the speaker wires. A typical receiver will try to cut the power to the speaker if it's feeding it too much power or too little power to preserve the speaker and/or receiver. That may be the clipping you're hearing. If the wires are reversed, this can cause the same thing.
