Boot into bios, setup to start on a cd.
Burn from another machine first:
a WinPe, BartPe, Ubuntu, Knoppix, etc. Bootable CD.
Boot with any of these and see what happened to your files.

You never even stated what OS you had.

Sounds 2 hot.

How do i restore my hp pavilion ze2000 to factory settings without disks?

    Hello,
Most HP Pavilions have a recovery partition on there hard drive. You will need to press f11 when you boot to activate the recovery segment of the hard drive.
Now if the recovery partition was distoryed then you will need to call Hp for replacement image disks witch they will charge to ship to you.
I do wish you good luck on this and do hope that you leave positive feedback for your response today.

    Sincerely
    Rulds2008

Please Help with a system recovery on a HP pavilion a1253w!

The reason the cd recovery did not work is that it was made for some other HP model.
On the unit you are trying to recover, reboot the computer and press F10 . several times. You should see a recovery menu. Select the type of recovery that will format and recover the unit to OEM defaults.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
    Thanks, Joe

    Reboot back to factory settings

    Hi there
You can only perform a restore if the PC came with a recovery partition or recovery CD's.
Recovering the system without using Windows
    1. Disconnect all peripherals and internal non preinstalled devices from the PC, except the monitor, keyboard, and mouse.
    2. Turn on the computer.
    3. When the initial blue HP screen appears, press the F10 key repeatedly until a recovery menu appears. The progress indicator that first appears does not indicate that a recovery is taking place. The progress indicator represents the time before the recovery process is started.
    4. When the Recovery screen appears, click Next, and then click Yes to perform a normal, non-destructive recovery.
    5. To perform a destructive recovery, click Advanced, and then click Yes.
    6. After the System Recovery is complete, and the computer starts successfully, update the computer software

Post back if this does NOT work

Good luck and thanks for using Fixya!!
