My DI-514 worked fine until I had to get a new computer w/Vista. Now it's continously red-lighted. My wireless HP 8450 will only work if I cable it to the computer. The other computers in the house can't go on line either. I'm really not to happy with Vista. I had lots of problems, this is just one more.
Its not the problem with windows vista. what you need to do is go the d-link's website and download the latest firmware for your DI-514+. Make sure its the right firmware since there are multiple versions of the DI-514+. Follow the FAQ on the site on how to upload the firmware.

Depending on your operating system there is a couple of different ways. windows XP right click on the computer with the little wireless logo and hit view networks, Vista right click on the two computers and connect to a network, and the windows 7 right click on the computer on the bottom right and hit view available networks :)
try to use it with other electric socket .if lights stil doesnt appear ,then iit could be problem with the adapter on dlink router..otherwise your router has gone bad ..if it is in warranty period go for the free replacement..
Sounds like you have a bad power supply. In my personal experiences with bad routers they either don't light up at all or all the lights blink. It doesn't take much to send one to the router graveyard. Power surges and lightning strikes are the most common culprits. Hope this helps
Believe it or not, Actiontec modems from Qwest are setup as a router already (even though ports are missing from it). You should use a switch instead of another router. Otherwise you will have to configure the DI-514 to act as a switch rather than a router. This is done by assigning a new starting IP address into your DI-514. By default both routers use 192.168.0.1 as the default. You will have to plug the DI-514 seperately into a computer (to take it off the network) and assign a new starting IP address for the DI-514 such as 10.150.1.1 for example. Then you will be able to get it work. I would strongly recommend using a switch instead and turn the wireless on the modem itself (this is why the modem is the router). It will save you some headaches if the power goes out.
Just first install the wireless card to your computer then when its already properly installed , connect to the wireless network name of your router and when its say connected try the internet that should e working fine already..........
