Hi,

I understand that you want burn more than one CD or DVD but unable to do so and have to restart the computer.

It may happen due to the age of the computer or CCD/DVD ROM. When you burn CD/DVD the lens on it become hot, so sometimes it may become unstable and need a restart. It also depend upon the setting of the software also, as it might have set it restart mode after the CD is burned. In this case, I would recommend you to check the setting of the burning software for an option which says "Restart after burning is completed".

Thanks and regards,
Jitha

A scratched cd/dvd can have errors causing the install to fail. Use a clean cd/dvd install disc to fix it.

If you are trying to install directly from the hard drive then a malware infection could have corrupted or damaged that part of your hard drive. Install windows from the cd/dvd disc for your computer.

Using windows dvd maker vista with sp1 starts to burn then at about 98% get error message and stops the burn. also when i try to format a dvd disc ready to burn that wont work and the dvd drive d is...

two things. Firsly make sure that you are using the correct disks i.e if your drive is dvd-r then only use dvd-r disks, if its dvd+r then only use dvd+r disks if it is a multi drive then it won't matter what disks you use. Secondly don't format the disk first. If it asks you to format the disk click on the X to shut the pop up box. Only put the disk in when dvd maker asks for you to insert a disk.
