there are a few ways to increase the system performance, here's some: 1: remove any programs you don't use, this reduces the disk access time increasing performance 2:remove any toolbars or PuPs (Potentially Unwanted Programs) as these also take up disk space 3: Defragment your hard disk, think of the data stored on the disk as a messy room, the defrag tool included with yourOS will clean up and organize this mess to make the system more efficient and disk access will be significantly reduced 4:Clean up the disk, there is a nifty little tool included with your OS called disk cleanup, this will remove temporary and unused files and gets rid of things that you and the system no longer need and frees disk space, decreasing the disk access and seek timings will shorten and the big one...5: Buy an SSD, this is a super fast disk that originates from the usb pendrive, it's faster, more energy efficient, and can store data without the need to defragment, this is an expensive way to speed up your PC, but by golly is iit worth it!!

Generally, defragmenting your hard disk will resolve this issue. To defragment your computer:
Go to Start--> Programs --> Accessories --> System Tools --> Disk Defragmenter.
When the Disk Defragmenter window opens, choose Defragment.
If defragmentation doesn't resolve the issue, burn your project as a data file, and then burn your project as a data disc using Disc Copier or Creator Classic. To create a disc image/data file:
After clicking the Burn button, the Burn Project window opens.
You have two data burning options:
Image file - this option will save your project as an .ISO file. To burn this file you will need to use the Burn Image option in Creator's Copy section.
Folder Set - burning a folder set will create a Video_TS folder that you can burn using Creator Classic. Burning a folder set to DVD will create a fully functional DVD. Do NOT rename the Video_TS folder other wise it will not play! Simply place it in a folder that is the name of your project if you need to keep track.
Sounds to me as if you have hard drive problems perhaps crosslinked files or the drive is going flaky, I suggest you run, the disk tools and check your drive also give it a "Defragment" too. Right click on the hard Drive Icon, and choose "properties" then "Tools" run the "Error Checking" tab.. let it complete and follow any instructions, you may have to reboot so it can do it's work, after which go to same menu and run the "Defragment" program
What exactly do you mean? Well, you can always format the drive. This will delete everything on it, and then you can install Windows and start from scratch. But if you want to keep intact all your data and files, then you have the option of defragmenting the drive.
How to defragment: Go to "Start -> All Programs ->Accessories -> System Tools -> Disk Defragmenter". You can select the drive you want to defragment and press on "Defragment" button. Defragmenting helps you free up space
NO, I'm sorry I'm trying to defrag my hard drive not my CD Rom it is fixed thanks to yawl!
