What if it doesnt show everything except when the comp is first starting up. it shows "starting windows " excactly like on my laptop but then the screen shuts on the tv goes blue

You will need an HDMI cable. Connect the laptop to the television and on the television, you will need to change the "Source Input" setting. Select the HDMI setting on the television and everything that you see on your laptop will appear on the television.

Acer Aspire 5315 doesn't come with an HDMI port. So, you have the following options:
1. Use a VGA Cable to connect the PC to TV if the TV has PC-Input facility
2. Use an S-Video cable to the TV's S-Video-in port if the TV has it

3. Use and S-Video to HDMI converter if the TV has HDMI port
(http://www.amazon.com/Composite-S-video-Audio-HDMI-Converter/dp/B003NS0UUQ)
for audio, you can use 3.5mm to RCA (Red/White) connector to connect to TV's audio-in port.

Make sure TV is set to connecting input port, like VGA or S-Video. "New Display" should appear on laptop.
