SOURCE: replacement parts for Magellan eXplorist GPS

The keypad is integral to the circuit board. You can replace the rubber membrane cover, but not the buttons. I have a few extra rubber membranes, if you are still looking. [email protected]

Magellan explorist XL won't power up past a blue screen

Sounds like you got a bad update, you might be able to download an update from magellan, and put it on your sd card then load it that way to finish the update.

My Garmin Explorist GC freezes upon startup (Garmin logo, no rotating stuff). I have tried the 3-button (menu, joy up and power) solution suggested by some, with no luck. Any ideas??

The gps was dropped and the inner screen is broken, can I get it repaired and how much will it cost?

You can try to assemble a new screen

or send you damaged one to magellan and purchase a new or refurbished one at a discounted price.

The zoom (+) key on my Magellan Explorist 210 GPS has become very sticky, and only works (eventually) if hit sharply. Is it possible (or practicable) for it to be repaired?

Yes it can be fixed but requires the unit to be taken apart. Most likely the rubber keys have lost the contact surface through use over time. Could be dirt on the pad surface...(inside)

Zoom in button works, but won't zoom out

I had the same problem. took unit apart and used a white rubber eraser on the button contacts and also on the rubber back of the button. Cleaning the rubber back of the button seemed to be the most important part because prior cleaning of just circuit board did not seem to have any effect. Button works fine now to my surprise. I suggest cleaning the rubber back of all buttons to avoid repeating process of having to take unit apart twice

Button does not work

if you don't mind taking it apart, carefully unscrew the case and seperate the two halfs (be carefull not to break any of the wires or ribbon connections) , pull off the rubber pad with the buttons, and clean the contacts on the circuit board (you could use alcohol, or I use model railroad track cleaner that you can get at a hobby shop)

Explorist 600

Hello, Is this a new unit or one that you have had for a while? I find on my 500 that it takes some time to get used to pushing the button as this button can go sideways as well as straight down. It took me quite some time to get used to it. Try experimenting with different techniques to get it right. If you are having the same problem I was I think you may find a technique that will work for you. Good Luck! Dr. Know

Attempting to repair the buttom will compromise the units waterproof integrity. Contact magellans service dept.
