HI I have this problem too - I opened the back of the unit and disconnected the DVR 1600 tuner and inserted a DVD and the unit was able to read it. I wanted to record a show so I inserted another DVD+R and when I got the message "no disk found" I attached the cable to the DVR 1600 - turned the unit off and on and disconnected the cable again - fed in the disk and it asked to be formatted. I think the problem is in the DVR1600 tuner module found at the back of the unit in the middle
Hi. I have this problem with my unit. After a lot of research on the net it apperars that this is caused by problems with the laser pickup. The laser is either dead or is on its way out and doesn't have the strength it needs to read sensitive DVDs but is OK with Audio CDs.
A lot of CyberHome units have this problem due to the poor quality of the laser pickup units they use. I have been told that they have since gone bankrupt. If it is still under warranty then it you may be able to get it repaired but otherwise it may be cheaper to get new unit.
Hope this helps
