Tip & How-To about Apple iPod touch
An iPod can be configured to synchronize with a version of
iTunes manually or automatically. When the iPod sync automatically, you can
store large amounts of files on the device in a single step. The unit certainly
cannot be synced with one iTunes library at a time, however. An iPod that syncs
with iTunes manually can be used with many different computers, but the
management of content for the iPod in particular is longer than when dealing
with an iPod that syncs automatically.
1. Connect the iPod to the computer that you are going to
configure the iPod USB cable.
2. Open iTunes.
3. Click the name of the iPod or the word "iPod"
found under the "Devices" option in the left column of iTunes.
4. Click on the "Summary" tab located in the
center of the top of the iTunes window.
5. Click the box found the left of the "manually manage
music and videos." Win or lose the case, or a check, depending on the
current settings of the iPod. If the box is a tick, the iPod changed the
setting to "manual sync," meaning that the iPod can be synchronized
with multiple computers files are deleted from the device. If a tick is
removed, the iPod has changed the setting to "sync automatically" and
warns iTunes, explained that all current files on the device removed and
replaced with files in your iTunes library on your computer. Click
"OK" to continue.
6. Click "Apply" at the bottom of iTunes to
complete the setup of the iPod.
