Hayward H100ID wont heat water

If the heater is operational, working and the top of the heater is hot, and you do hear the combustion of the gas, see flames in the burner tray area... .... then your heater is heating the water! If there are flames in the heater, the heater is normally doing its job. Most people are not aware of the time it takes to see a "Temperature Rise". The average temperature rise is dependent on your heater size, the ambient temperature of the time of day you would like to use your heater, the wind/breeze factor as it goes over your pool surface. Is the pool waters surface covered? etc. All of this is a factor on how quick the temperature will rise. It is possible that you will not feel warm water coming from a return fitting. Another common mistake some pool owners make is the system is on a timer. And the desire to start the initial warming of the water starts with the flick of the heater switch and then a few hours later the pump turns off and along with it, the heater. The heater will only work, if the pump is on and circulating the water! No circulation, no heat! So if you have a timer, remove the "Off" timer pins and allow the heater to work.

I turned the heeter on, it started ok then there was a puff of smoke from the exhaust and now it will not ignight

The exhaust fan has rusted out. Remove it and replace with a new one. The heater will not ignite it it doesn't sense a vacuum created by the fan.

Hayward hd100id blower works water luke warm

It sounds like the thermostat is turning the heater off before it gets the water to temperature. It is probably the sensor, as that is the most common cause, but may be otherwise.

I have a Hayward H100ID1 heater. I turn the gas shut off on and I know there is gas going into the heater. But when I turn the heater on and it sparks, the is no gas smell and it does not light. What

first be sure your water filter is clean and the pressure gauge works.....you may need to bleed the gas line to get fresh gas to the unit, you can use soapy water to check, that the fitting leak free, after bleeding at the block

I need to know what hold the thermastat in place

In many heaters, nothing does, it just inserts into the tube in the exchanger. The t-stat does not come in direct contact with the water.

I have a hayward H100ID above ground pool heater.

Thank you for posting your question here on Fixya.com.

The Hayward H100 has a diverter plate welded into the header that helps direct some of the water flowing thru into the heat exchanger to heat the water. If the weld fails the diverter can interfere with that flow and cause overheating or poor flow thru the heater which in turn can lead to the problems you describe.

Remove the inlet side hose once you have blocked the flow of water from the pool and you should see the diverter in the inlet. If you can move it then it is broken and needs to be fixed back in place or the whole heat exchanger needs to be replaced.

If the diverter is not moving then your issue is likely an overall water flow one and the next place to look is the filter. Poor overall system flow may be enough to close the pressure switch telling the heater the pump is on but not enough to keep the water in the exchanger from getting too hot, again causing the symptoms you describe.

If this answer does not fix your problem, please comment with additional details prior to rating the answer. You may also contact me thru our website at www.arrowpools.net. Positive feedback is appreciated once your problem is solved!

Noise

is this heater is been install for above the ground pool it will be better either way to use a hard schedulle 40 pvc to prevent any checking in the hoses for future leak ,is the heater connections are correct in and out , mean from the return the filter go to inlet side the heater them the outlet side of the heter (HOT WATER) GO TO RETURNS of the pool ? also check if the pump got full prime not air,is the filter is clean? also check for any brocken parts inside the flowvalve control, after years low PH AND TA will destroy internal parts in heater include leaking heater exchangers.

Hayward 100 series Above Ground 100,000 BTU heater

This plate is an internal by-pass if it sticks open this is what you will get if it sticks closed the water will move to fast to heat and you will get low heat after it runs way to long. If it moves freely and has the proper spring in it you will get nether of these. For my money i would replace it with a new one and be careful with your chems as this is what will kill on and after time ruin the whole heater. Figure they pay a bunch of engeneers to get it right and virturaly all heaters have these in them in one form or another. In answer to your question you will want it stuck closed, but be reminded your heater will run on about twice the gas and get you mabey two thirds the heat.

How to winterize the h100id1 hayward pool heater

Make sure that you drain all of the water out of the pool heater to prevent damage during freezing weather. That is the most important thing you can do to winterize pool heaters. If you have a cover, you might want to use it to prevent weather related exposure, but as long as you have the water out, you will be ok.

I have hayward 100.000

It can be several things and generally speaking they are not do-it-yourself friendly. The likely culprit is the control board. It could also be the ignitor, the gas valve, the power coming into the unit, some combination of these or even a safety circuit component opening back up after the fan runs.

In short you need to have parts on hand for some of these to try and see if replacing them works.

Start with confirming the gas valve is getting voltage sent to it. If it is remove and inspect the ignitor next. Is it corroded? Bent or broken? Replace it if necessary.

Do you get the low pitched clicking of the ignitor trying to light? If not and the previous steps are ok then the board is probably the issue.

You would be best served to contact a local Hayward service rep if none of this makes sense to you. You can find them on their website at: http://www.haywardnet.com/locator/

Enter your zip code and further down select product repair or service. If none come up widen the search radius and try again.
