McCulloch 13HP 338 Cc Portable Generator # FG6000MK Questions & Answers
Spring on recoil starter broke
Generic version of your starter is most likely available from small engine shop. Look for model and type of engine itself. Briggs stratton, honda, etc. model number if engine is usually on starter cover or stamped on block or tag attached. If the recoil part is riveted to housing you may need to either re-rivet or use screws to attach new rewind. Used parts are also available at small engine shops. Just take in the starter housing only for match-up. Good luck
Have new motor, how does shaft couple to generator
The shaft to engine has male tapered end and fits very tightly to armature of gen. Remove stator and remove center bolt thru armature. Place a piece of hardwood aganst metal part of armature and rap with hammer (one side then the other). Very carefull not to damage the windings or metal parts of the armature. If it does not come loose in short order apply penetration lubricant and wait for it to soak in. Good luck
McCulloch Generator model FG6000mk 11hp run good
I did not understand how you turn on generator, as it is always turned on.
If you use the ON/OFF switch it is stopping the prime mover.
If you reset the AC breaker without load, and it stops - it means that you have short circuit after the breaker. Check the output receptacles.

McCulloch fg6000mk: generator motor runs, no power.
You need to trace out the power wires the come out of the genset. They will end up on a breaker. With a volt meter measure both sides of the breaker. If one side has voltage and the other side doesn't, then your breaker is opened. Press the breaker in closed to see if it actually closes. If it don't then you will need a breaker. However, if no voltage is being produced, it is possible that the voltage regulator let go.
Just won't start
check the spark plug after a failed attempt to start. If dry, then no fuel is entering engine.
Did you leave old fuel in carb? if so, your carb probably is dirty: old gasoline deposits varnish, gum, and you will need to dissassemble carb and clean it.
My 5700 watt 11 HP McCullough generator wont
The spark coil is bad if you have no spark
Small engine repair. Part is expensive.
Have you checked spark for sure?
1) Spray WD-40 directly into carburetor
If machine has spark, it will fire
2) Is exhaust port clogged with carbon and dirt?
3) Get new spark plug
Pull out old spark plug
Put spark wire on plug
Hold spark plug wire with fingers
Put spark plug threads against metal opening where spark plug came out.
Metal to metal
Pull cord or push starter
Look for spark between metal
No spark, then spark coil is bad.
