The unit needs to have the laser reader lens cleaned but DONT use regular rubbing alcohol. Get pure stuff....the rubbing type leaves a glare on glass and plastic lenses.
Also ,the chrome rails that the laser moves along need to be cleaned and lubed with liquid silicone. This method clears read problems most of the time.

its the sticker on the back, in most cases, directly over the AV input.

I say most cases because it is possible that a second hand box, has either the sticker missing or the shell swapped for another, and the dates would be wrong.

Some after arket component cables only support high def, if your tv is standard def it won't work. I'm not sure if this is your problem, but it's worth looking into.

this is most likely your dvd drive, if it is still under warrenty send it in, otherwise you can replace the dvd drive by buying one off ebay for example, make sure you buy the same brand tho, the same problem happened to me

E68 error message? If so, turn off system, take off hard drive, put hard drive back on, turn system back on.

I had this same problem a year after I purchased my first Xbox 360. Most of the time this problem is due to dust and dirt getting sucked into the system by the terrible cooling system that the older Xbox 360s have. If your Xbox 360 is over 2 years old then most likely this is your problem. these Xboxes are made to stand up not lay down so if yours is laying down try tilting it upright and play it that way. This fixes the problem 80% of the time. You can also try to blow into some of the openings on your Xbox to get the dirt and dust out but I must admit this rarely works. If after trying both of these things you still have the problem, then it must be fixed by opening up the Xbox and determining the problem with the laser or disk drive. This costs time and money so you better hope that my first two solutions work!

turn your xbox on and make sure it has the red rings then wrap a towel around thexbox make sure its completely covered leave it like that for an hour and the problem should be fixed

Your laser may be dirty or the laser may be bad.(or something simple like a scratched disc) If you hear the disc spin up and you can also hear the laser moving, then it is definitely the laser. If cleaning the laser lens fails, then you can either replace the laser or the drive. I prefer to change the entire drive. You can find one on EBAY for around $20. You have to get the exact same disc drive that you have in the console originally.The most important thing is the drive key that is located in the original drive. What this key does is store information and firmware. This key replaces the one in the new drive. If it isn't replaced, then your drive will not work.(and be banned) The key installed in the new drive makes the console recognize the new drive as the original. Do this while not connected to LIVE to ensure you have the key installed correctly and your drive is reading properly before you go on LIVE. Once reading discs, and everything checks out OK you can then go on LIVE.(with no worry on getting banned) There are a few tutorials on youtube for this fix. Keep in mind if you have a BENQ drive, replacing the key is a little trickier.(which you can also find on youtube for the BENQ drive) If you want to replace the laser get the one for your drive on EBAY and find the tutorial on EBAY. Either way is a fairly inexpensive fix. I hope this helps you.

There are many methods out there. Look on youtube for tutorials disassembling your console. Then look for tutorials on RROD fixes. As I said, there are a few different ways to do this. For me is the hot air re-flow method, and then X-clamp fix after cooling (for future prevention) I do a third also which is unnecessary, but I like to also keep future issues from arising. The penny trick I do (not for the RAM issue), but I have found that it also serves as a good motherboard brace.(preventing unnecessary board flexing due to heat) Some do one or the other, but you find what makes you comfortable. Re-flow will always be the best fix, but remember to be very careful with high temps and electronics. I hope this helps you.

this sounds like a faulty DVD drive and can be replaced by microsoft for free if still under warranty or purchase a manual from the link below for £1.50 that will give you a step by step guide on how to repair the problem your self

E68 is a problem with your harddrive, try taking out the harddrive then trying the xbox, if it is still sealed phone up mircosoft

This can be caused by a dirty laser in the drive. try cleaning the laser with a q-tip and rubbing alcohol. If this does not fix the problem you will need to get the laser replaced.
