At the bottom of the dishwasher (older GE) you see a plastic cover with rounded corners and two 'grill' shaped sides. Remove the screws (1\4) and lift the cover. There might be a huge amount of grey clog and dirt stuck on the inside already. Remove it with a fork or long brush and rinse it. There is another grill in the water hole pull it out and clean it as necessary. You may also want to reach into and check the water hole for debris. If you are not comfortable doing so you can remove the water by pushing an old towel into the hole first. Once all parts are clean put them back in place and fix the cover with the screws. Pour 2-3 table spoons of bleach into the machine and let it run twice on heavy duty cycles.
Does not pump water. Leaves dishes soappy
We really need your model number to help you properly. In the mean time you can check you sink connection and air gap for obstructions. Usually the cover just pulls up and off then you unscrew the cap to expose the drain tube for the dishwasher. More often than not if the unit fills and washes but leave soap on the dishes a clogged drain line is the problem. You may have to run something down the drain tube to clear it. Usually you will see the obstruction when you remove the cap. There is a remote possibility if it drains into a garbage disposal that food particles have clogged the drain outlet inside the garbage disposal. Hope this resolves your problems. Cheers!
No water
water supply hooked up?could be water valve.
Washing machine
well, I guess by the sounds it you guys have belt problem.
Check to see if the belt is not slipping, if is you may have to tighten the belt. it is very simple there are two bolts on the motor,
One has a slot, and one is just a pivot. You have to loosen the pivot bolt a bit then you loosen the bolt that rides in the slot. Then you pull back on the motor to get the right tension on the belt.
That rattle you hear is the spin-clutch realease arm spring check to see if it's missing if it is then that is where the rattle is coming from that spring holds down the clutch arm when the washer is in spin thus preventing the rattle if it's not there or it's broken you have to replace the spring if your'e in Canada stop by greg's appliance repair and he will fix it for Ya!!!
Ge dishwasher lower rack doesn't get clean
I have spent all my career in the catering and food industry with dishwashers of all shapes and sizes. The usual reason for this can be two fold.First make sure that the bottom spray arm spins freely. For various reasons they can stick and that means the spray only hits one place. If you spin it, it should spin at least 2 revolutions. Even if it does....Remove the bottom spray arm. The thing that makes it spin is the angled jets in either end. They will often block with debris, and the worst is lemon pips and cocktail sticks, even fluff. No one knows how fluff gets in there, but it does. At my last job at a VERY busy airport lounge putting literally hundreds of baskets through a day, the two filters had to be de-fluffed every day. The problem at home is that the fluff solidifies between uses. So look at those end two jets, poke with something and put water in from the jet end rinsing to the big hole in the centre. Put the plug in the sink so you can see what comes out. The turn the arm over and force a good jet of water into the big centre hole and it should show as a good jet at the ends. Then put the arm back and make sure it spins.Your machine has a strange item called a 4 port diverter valve. This part concerns me a bit as it appears that it may be supposed to move or at least has to be in the correct orientation. Some items like this have a rubber flap that really does divert the flow. Once gain, some type of debris can ruin its function. It looks easy enough to remove.504 - Diagram Number FOUR PORT DIVERTER AND PLUG ASSEMBLY WD19X26398
https://www.geapplianceparts.com/store/parts/assembly/PDT715SYN3FSAnother trick is to whip the door open mid wash if it doesn't have a safety lock and see what the arm is doing and if it is spraying well.I hope this is more use than our friend Umar Waheed! Why is my GE dishwasher drain solenoid continuously burning up?
There could be a few reasons why your GE dishwasher drain solenoid keeps burning up:
- Overloading the dishwasher: Overloading the dishwasher can cause the motor to work harder, which in turn can cause the drain solenoid to burn out.
- Improper installation: If the drain solenoid is not installed correctly or there is a wiring issue, this can cause the solenoid to burn out.
- Clogs or blockages: If there are clogs or blockages in the dishwasher's drain line or garbage disposal, this can cause the motor to work harder and burn out the drain solenoid.
- Electrical issues: If there are electrical issues with the dishwasher, such as a short circuit, this can cause the solenoid to burn out.
To troubleshoot the issue, you may want to start by checking the dishwasher's drain line and garbage disposal for any clogs or blockages. You can also check the dishwasher's installation and wiring to ensure everything is properly connected. If the issue persists, you may need to consult a professional appliance repair technician to diagnose and fix the problem.
GLD2800V00WW GE dishwasher - doesn't stop washing when door is opened.
The OP Michelle writes with the FIX! Well done.
I was able to repair by doing the following: Removed the inner cover and the cover over the interlock switch. The peg and spring between the interlock switch and the other switch (?) flew out. The peg slides in-between two white plastic "legs" that seemed bent. Tried to straighten them, re-inserted the peg and spring. Removed the interlock switch, checked connection was firm and reinserted. Made sure peg slides up and down. Closed everything up and voila! The dishwasher stops when door is opened. No new parts needed!

GE Dishwasher makes loud banging noise
Check the stainless steel cover on the bottom of the lower rack sprayer. If it has been bent downward on either end, it will hit the inside panel of the door near the bottom. It may score the panel as it hits on each rotation of the sprayer.
Just bend it back in position, carefully, with a pair of pliers. The technique required is similar to bending the pocket clip of a fountain pen back into the proper position after it has been sprung out too far. You might practice on a pen or mechanical pencil clip to see what I mean.
GE Profile Dishwasher about 7 years old.
The washer doesn't pump water in--plumbing water pressure forces it in when the water inlet solenoid opens the valve. Check the water inlet solenoid--they are a common failure point. Look under the front of the washer behind the panel to find it--just trace the water inlet line. It connects directly to it. The valve can be stuck shut or, more commonly, the plastic coil form of the solenoid disintegrates. In any case, just replace it. Don't forget to shut off the water supply valve under the sink before you start work. Hope this helps!
