If the spool pops in, you may be able to find a replacement where sewing machine parts are sold.

If it was a molded to a platform, a thread stand may be a less expensive method to use. You can find a single cone thread stand with sewing notions.

Depends what you plan to do with the machine. If you expect to do simple straight or zig-zag stitching, perhaps sewing garments or home decor items, a simple mechanical machine with a few decorative stitches may be sufficient. However, if you decide you want to get into computerized embroidery, etc., then a computerized machine with more capabilities may be a better choice. Of course, with that decision is the price. Just go with the best value for your money. If you are a beginner, perhaps a simple machine to start with may be a good choice until you advance your sewing abilities to a point when you can consider a machine with more capabilities. If you decide you really don't like sewing, at least you haven't put out a great amount of money. ...

Had the same problem here. Took it apart and found that several tracks in the ribbon cable from the keypad to the circuit board on which the LCD display is mounted were broken hence keypad needs to be replaced. Its part number is XA4331002 and available online from Sewing World. Have just finished fitting the replacement and keypad and sewing machine are working A1 OK.

Try turning unit on with foot control unplugged. If it starts on it's own with foot pedal disconnected then internal board failure (smoke).

The upper thread could be tangled. Remove the upper thread and any loose threads. Raise the pressure foot, raise the needle to its highest position and rethread the machine.
Remove the bobbin and bobbin case to clean any lint or loose threads. Install the bobbin case so that the projection on it aligns with the spring. Then install the bobbin into the bobbin case.
The needle could be bent. Replace the needle making sure the flat side is facing the back.

Appears to be the same bae machine with a slight difference in the needle position selector.

i suggest that you stop using it and let it rest. then unplug it multiple times and if that doesn't work, then it's trash.

Sounds as though the top thread is not being captured by the rotary hook. Check for a bent needle and clean bobbin, hook, and feed dog area.

I have heard the way people curse computerised sewing machines sometimes - it seems a good idea to buy one but those unused to them are never sure whether the reason they don't work is themselves or the machine but often lose patience and decide it can't be the machine. The ancient Singer is hauled down from the attic to do that work while the new machine is consigned to the back of a wardrobe... Brother machines are reckoned to be as good as any domestic machine but there is always the possibility it is faulty. Not knowing is frustrating. It is unwise to buy such a complex machine without first ensuring it can be serviced/repaired locally and there is someone handy to demonstrate it and instruct in it's use. It is most unfair to leave the instruction to a DVD. I suggest you ask for tuition at the local dealer. If there isn't a local dealer I suggest you exchange it for a different type/make.

Hopefully there is a metal loop just off the bobbin's resting place intended to properly and evenly unroll the thread smoothly. Maybe flip the bobbin over so it pulls thread from opposite direction?? Just some suggestions! is the bobbin over spinning after the machine pulls necessary length? Maybe, try to create some type of drag on the bobbin spool, but not too much!!

I suspect the bobbin winder did not return to full left (off) position.

Try moving bobbin winder all the way to the right and then all the way back to the left.
