You shouldn't need to. You should get your local channels from Dish on the low channel numbers, like 2 through 70.

You can find remote control codes for your TV here. Search for your TV model number and click the Support tab. If the codes listed don't work, there is also a listing of compatible brand codes that you can try.

Hi jmhunsinger! I will be glad to assist you in your concern. 1st let press the reset button on the front panel of the receiver for 10secs, then once its reset, you will see attention 015 this will go on a progress, then press the menu button on the remote, that is on the upper left, then you will see the main menu. once you see the main menu, press 6,1,1 on the remote and it will go to pointdish, once you see point dish, select check switch on the upper right, then it will go to install summary, on the install summary, you will see installed device, input1-110-all, input2-110-all, on the butom you will see test, select test to perform switch test, let the test finish once its done it will be back to install summary, you should see input 1-119, input2-110 and both should be all or odd-even, select cancel, then it will go to pointdish, you will see on the sat field it could be 119 or 110 and under the signal meter you will see there lock echostar, it could be 119 or 110 west, no problem if one of them will show.119 west or 110 west, then selct cancel, then press 0, 3 times on the remote then it will go to attention 015, let the progress finish until it download the programming guide, if you got the tv show, and can change the channels of the program, lets check your sat if both of them is green, press on the remote the menu button and once the mainmenu is up, press on the remote 6, 1, 3 then it will go th the sysinfo, on the field g, you should see there 119-green, 110-green, if there are two green your good to go, but if there is only 1 sat, press cancel then select on the option updates, once your on the updates screen, you should select on with out my permission, then select save, and cancel all the way out, then it will show a tv pic..turn off the receiver by pressing the power button on the remote, then once the power is off, green light on the receiver if off and the tv will show a snowy or black screen, but in a few seconds it should show attention 061, downloading vital program information, this process will update the software of your receiver, let the process finish, dont do anything just sit and relax and wait until it finish, once its done the wtv will be on a black or snowy screen and the message will disappear. press and hold the power button on the receiver for 10secs then it will pop attention 015 let the progress finish until it download the programming guide, once you got a tv show, press again the menu button on the remote and press 6,1,3 on the remote to check sysinfo and check field g if sat 119-green, 110-green. granting still 1 sat and its green, select cancel, select point dish, check switch and test, let it finish once its finish, it should show 2 sat, 119, 110. then cancel all the way out and it go on the process again and wait untill all the process finish. granting you did check on the sysinfo again and still show only 1 sat. if you have other solo receiver, try to hook up the other receiver to the room were your having a problem, run the check and test the switch on the pointdish. lets say that the other receiver got two sat-119 and 110, mean that the 1st receiver that you working at have a problem and it needs to be replace but if the 2nd receiver that you hook up and it shows the same problem, call on 1-800-333-3474 and ask for service tech, there is a problem with your dish 500.

The HD feed comes in on 61.5 for a majority of stations most often locals come off 119 or 110. The USA hd comes off of 61.5 transponder 19.If you press menu 611 on your dish remote and manuever the highlight to the satellite and go to 61.5 and then change the transponder to 19 you will probably have a poor signal from 0 -39. Typically this can be resolved by having the dish re-peaked but sometimes foilage may be the cause. Thanks for using Fix Ya.

This is a configuration issue on the unit that is controlled by the setup that Dish broadcasts. It is definitely something they control. You will need to speak to at least a level 2 technician at Dish to get someone to actually listen to your issue. It is fixable but it needs reconfiguration that only Dish can do. Keep calling back / talk to a supervisor until you get it fixed, it's definitely nothing you are doing wrong.

Turn the receiver off using the front panel power button and then press the channel up button and hold it until the unit powers on. This will bring you to the system info screen. There you will see the remote address the remote needs to be programmed to- usually 1. Now press and hold the SAT button on top of the remote until all buttons on the top lite up and release. Now key in the two digit number shown on the screen - numbers under ten will be preceeded buy a zero. Now press the pound sign on the bottom right of the keypad. The SAT button will flash three times and then you will need to press the record button . YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO MANUEVER THE HIGHLIGHT ON THE SCREEN AND EXIT OUT OF THE SCREENS . I am assuming that when you press the select button the screen changes from the screen saver screen to a black screen.The best way too fix this is to replace the receiver. However if have another receiver in the house I would take the 301 receiver to the other location and see if the problem still exists if so new receiver is needed definitively.Thanks for using Fix Ya.

Without being there it is difficult to be 100 percent accurate but it sounds as if the receiver is on the way out. I have never seen this problem first hand and all my investigations into this receiver type has resulted in your issue being an anomaly as the software has know known issues nor does the receiver itself with the video issue you described.

The 301 is a standard receiver, so it wont give you HD programs. You will have to buy at least 3 HD receivers. (they're about $300 a piece:(). The vip222 HD reciever has 2 tuners so it will allow you to have seperate programs on 2 television.

The antenna ports on these receivers are only analog pass thru's they will not convert to digital.

If you are a dish network subscriber, my suggestion will be to call technical support to help you. If you're using atmega or any other type of decoding devices then there is an ECM to test some of the nagravision3 encryption that might take effect some time soon.

Once you program it to record, you must remove the checkmark next to the program you want to record, before you hit the cancel button.

If the dish network remote control is universal it may work with limited functions. If the remote control has buttons labeled cd, receiver, cable or Aux etc. it might work. The manual will tell you for sure. It will also provide you with the proper code for the component to work.
