My name is Becki Barned, and I'm with Dish Network Customer Service. I would suggest for this issue, if it has not been resolved, to unplug the receiver box from the power supply for about 10 seconds, and let it reboot. If this doesn't resolve it, or again, if this is not already resolved, blog back, or you can find us on Twitter!

The volume is not responding from either the remote or the console; mute function not working either.

Check your remote control to see if the buttons are working properly. Or go into your unit's settings and check what the volume default is set to - It might be set to prevent it from going lower or higher.

Volume not working

Check whether the audio is muted or not. If audio is muted, there will be no sound output. Refer its user manual for details. If it is not muted, check its speaker/s first. If found OK, check and replace damaged component/s at its audio out put card, or replace it as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Viewing it in "Mosaic" will make surf easy.

Does your TV have a "half-mute" setting:
* press MUTE once to reduce the volume to 50%
* press MUTE a second time to reduce the volume to zero
* press MUTE a third time to restore the volume to 100%

All the buttons on my tv remote work but the volume, What do I do ?

Sounds like they are not touching the board inside the remote. for that take the remote apart reposition the board inside of it (careful not put fingers on board, sides only) make sure they are working and then put the remote back together.

We have a DVR hooked up to our 1989-99 Mitsubishi TV (floor model) still in amazing working condition. The remote control for that TV never allowed us to put the TV on mute. If the mute botton was...

Well, without knowing the exact model of tv and remote, I can just give my best guess.
Try using the volume up/down on the TV and / or the remote.
On the TV, try pressing both the volume up and down at the same time.
Stick the remote right in the face of the TV (direct in front of the remote sensor) and hit the mute button.
Try tapping the mute button in very short single bursts rather than pressing it for a half second like you would any other button.
If any of those work, please come back and reply with the model of the TV and remote, because someone somewhere probably has the same issue and would love to have it solved!

Toshiba Regza 32C3000A tv sound keeps droping out, the mute button when pressed on and then off brings it back on. seems as if the tv is auto muting itself?

Could be a contact piece of the MUTE button from your remote that is causing it.
Go out and Big Lots or Radio Shack to get a cheap universal remote control(big lots would be between $5-$10) Pick up the code for it,and when the tv happens again, your the OLD remote MUTE button to turn it back on and then put away this remote control and use the new universal remote control.
However,if the problem is coming from the manual MUTE button on the TV,you need a repair tech, to fix it!

My volume sounds muted on my 36" toshiba tv, nothing is working

Good day.

Please check on the speakers of your unit. They may be busted.

Volume and mute buttons suddenly stopped working

Try changing the batteries. Most times the "tivo" buttons will work but the "tv" buttons will stop working when the batteries are low.

If you have done that, go back into settings and program the remote again for your tv, then give it a shot.
