Assuming you are using Windows, the camera will appear in "My Computer" as a disc drive. The type of drive is dependant in what the power switch is set to {HDD,DVD,SD}. Double click on the corresponing drive letter to access the video(s) stored on the camcorder.

ps. Make sure you have the power switch set to the location of your video files before plugging the camcorder into your computer. As you will not be able to change this setting once the camcorder is plugged in.

Hi, You need to activate a add hardware to your mac, or plug and play so it will recognize the Hitachi DVD HDD Camcorder. Also you might need a plugin application software in order to play movie or video. hope this info will help you to solve the problem. Contact us if this will not work for you.

Do you mean to view on a DVD, because the camera has a hard drive and the movies are stored on it, and the SD card can save still photos on it. You can watch and preview you movies on a TV by connecting the camera to a monitor or a PC to edit the movies after you have loaded the software that came with the camera. Does that help? Remember as long as you can see the movies on the camera they are safe. With a 30 GB you can take a lot of footage. There is a switch position for playback or preview or for filming just check to see. You should be able to look at the menu to see how much time you have left for "taping" which is really storing. Enjoy your vacation, and edit you movies when you get home.

upgrade you firmware for that. if alo possible, look for a latest friver for your cam. the problem usually dissappears when you try to reinstall the drivers for that.

there is a problem in your operating system, if you are using winxp, try to run this by clicking the repair option in this way this will replace the corrupted files of o.s.

The drive has 3.5" HDD that needs lots of power (Amps) to start up that big motor inside, and is first thing to learn . 2amps it needs, ok? so if pack is missing it will never startup on any USB port, not rated for 20x standard USB load factors. some laptops only do 0.1amps (100mA) and are useless to startup any hdd motor of any kind. see why here. and see a better extremal solution cheap.! $10 http://www.pcdied.com/external-hdd.html
