If the PCB board is burned, there is a possibility that your data is still in the drive and that the drive can still work. However, at the very least you will need a new PCB board from Hitachi.

You can also click on the above link and click on Warranty / RMA and proceed with giving details of your hard drive, checking for warranty and create a RMA, then contact the RMA only number.

the clicking noise is the reader arm jumping across platters on your hard drive you have a dirty hard drive first clean all the dust from your computer specifically from around your hard drive using a high powered suction vacuum cleaner or a fine air blower from a air compressor making sure there is no MOISTURE in the air lines then give the hard drive a firm tap on the side to free it up hope this helps good luck

Go down to the bottom left, hit your windows button and click run
In the box that comes up type CMD

this will bring up a BLACK BOX with a blinking cursor

then you type FORMAT followed by the drive letter you want to format.

so if your drive name is E: then you would type FORMAT E:

If you type format C: you will get an error *Probably* because windows is running on that drive.

The disk-drive has malfunctioned.

Search online for a professional "data recovery service".
For a significant fee, they can repair your disk-drive,
just long-enough to copy your files to a new disk-drive.

If it still has a valid WARRANTY, exercise the warranty to get it repaired/replaced.

If the warranty has expired, then open the case, remove the disk-drive, buy a new "compatible" disk-drive, connect it, and thus "revive" your external storage device.

Either:
* no power reaching the hard-disk
* the "data" cable is no longer connected to the hard-disk and/or to the motherboard
* the "spinning" part of the hard-disk is no longer spinning
* the "electronics" part of the hard-disk has failed.

Take the computer to a qualified computer technician, for trouble-shooting, and possibly a replacement of the disk-drive.

Is the disk-drive still under warranty? If so, exercise the warranty to get a replacement disk-drive.

Why dont you try to replace it where you brought it from just visit ctc in secunderabad and try to ask there it is a big computer bazar where u get everything

u have installed the hdd properly
but not the bios..
open biios
press <del> or the key suggested by the computer when the computer boots.
u will enter bios...
now go to boot section
make first boot as the hdd shown in the list....
save the settings and reboot.
if it fails ..
unplug ur hdd. a and plug it again...
and follow the instruction again
