Go check the backlight inverter lamp, replace if busted.
This can be found when you open the back of your lcd and manage to get access to it.
The backlight inverter lamp is located at the upper and lower part of the screen.
Go check also the inverter board, the one that suppply high voltage to inverter lamp, see if this ballast transformer are not burnt out.
The input voltage of the inverter board is 24vdc the output is 250v ac..The voltage input terminal of the inverter board usually creates a loose solder. Use a soldering iron to resolder them....

This lamps are available online to order at shoppejimmy.com

It powers up but there

Hello
It is truly amazing the number of people who post here with the subject"No Picture" or "Monitor Problem" or "Monitor not working" when in 99.9% of cases there is nothing wrong with the monitor. The problem is almost certainly either graphics card or motherboard related. Occasionally LCD screens that have a separate 12V powersupply experience powersupply failure. If re-seating the graphics card or trying a replacement doesn't work then you will need to look at other components including motherboard, CPU, RAM, PC Power supply or data cable connected with CPU.
Good Luck, feel free to contact any assistance'
Do rate the solution if got help

I got a dell monitor.

Does it do the same using VGA cable? Same problem with another PC?
If it does not work with other PC, then you will have to take it apart.
It may be in the shutdown/restart mode due tp shorts circuits.
If you are going to DIY and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on: Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply (they should be replaced in a set), blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed DELL monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

On/off button stays in. won't work

Cheaply made part that is non-replaceable. One solution is to drill a small hole just to the left of the power button big enough to insert a toothpick through. Power can be turned on and off with the toothpick. Can use a paperclip but it will scratch up the bezel on the outside and the circuit board on the inside.

First try it with another PC first to make sure it is not PC problem.
There is no degaussing coil in the LCD monitor, not like the CRT type monitor that use electron beams and magnetic fileds for scanning the screen. First make sure the PC video resolution is set to the native resolution for this monitor, see your owner manual.
It can have problem in the power supply also due to bad caps and not producing clean DC to run the monitor.
If you are going to DIY and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:

This is very common problem with this series, the plastic actuator is broken off, very cheaply made and poorly design part.
I have lo luck locating this 5-button plastic switch assembly yet.
Be real carefule when separating the front bezel from the bac cover, it has very small ribbon cable attached to the front panel switch assembly that can easily be ripped apart.

hold a bright flash light to the screen after it goes black if you can see the words through the glass ... That means the back light is bad...or the power supply feeding it. it will be cheaper to buy a new one. if thats the problem.

The power switch does not switch (no click)

Unplug the monitor from the power
Unplug the monitor from the computer
Plug the monitor back in.
Try turning it on.

DOES IT SAY "NO SOUCRE DETECTED" or soemthing like that???

if it DOESN'T it means there is something wrong with the computer.

if it DOES:

plug it back on to the computer, turn the computer power off.
Press and hold the power button on the computer for about 15 seconds.
Plug the computer back on.
Try turning the computer on.
if it's not turning on again there a problem either with your monitor cable, or the plug, or the video card plug. It is unlikely that your video card is broken if you hear no wired series of short and long beeps when you try turning the computer on.
Good luck.
