DVD won't recognize the disk message below
Try running a DVD cleaner through it and see what happens. You can get one at Walmart for under $10. If that doesn't do the trick then take it to someone that can open it up to clean it.

TV & DVD HookUp (No Box) Can't get picture
As far as I know, my Go Video machine when there was no box involved...
The cable came from the wall to the IN of the Go Video box. Then another cable coming from the OUT of the video box and to the IN to the TV. TV should be on channel 3. As far as I can remember, I don't need to push the TV/VCR button, but instead, have to channel down to below channel 2 on the TV to the LINE/INPUT selection. Once you go there, and the Go-Video machine is on, you should be able to see a clear picture.
You'll push the TV/VCR button if you want to toggle back and forth from the VCR picture to the TV picture (which will be technically blank since it's on the 'line input selection.)
Hope that helps.

When I install a DVD it is rejected
Since the message is "unknown disc" rather than "no disc" the optics are working just fine and no amount of cleaning or adjustment will make any difference. There is either a logic problem internally where the digital stream is interpreted or the unit is expecting a PAL disc and is getting an NTSC disc for example. I am not familiar with your particular model, can it read both PAL and NTSC? If so, this may not be an automatic thing. Verify that the settings for the player match the type of discs you have. If that fails, then the next option is to have the logic board changed.

We had the same problem and changed the RGA cable connection to the AV2 instead of Component 2. Worked for us
Go video dvd recorder vhs combo vr3845 - won't read discs - says unknown disc
FIRST UNPLUG THE UNIT FROM POWER !!!!! The problem is dirt/dust/****/crud/stuff on the tiny, little ***** laser lens. Remove the case screws ( 2 on each side, some in the back) with a correct size driver. The cover must be pulled open at the bottom, side to side a tiny bit ( use a hand on each side) to allow the cover to lift up at the rear, it must come up quite a bit as if it is hinged at the front and THEN pulled back out of the front panel. Set the cover to the side. The DVD reader/Burner is covered with a small black cover, it is held on with two TINY screws, STOP!!!! Get yourself the CORRECT size driver at Fry's or Radio Shack, DO NOT get cheap here!!! Remove the two screws and find the two plastic grip tabs, push them to release and lift the cover. There is the laser! It is a tiny blue lens about the same diameter as the tiny screws. find a very, very well washed CLEAN 100% cotton T-shirt. The softer the better, get 70% or higher rubbing alcohol, pull the fabric over the tip of the finger and wet with the alcohol. VERY GENTLY wipe the lens 4 to 5 wipes and the 3 wipes with a dry spot. That should clean the lens. USE NOTHING ELSE!!!!!! The lens tracks back and forth on two tiny bars. The stuff I use is WD-40 wet on a Q-tip swab. Go to a safe place to spray the WD-40 on the Q-tip. The lube should drip. With the Q-tip apply the lube to the tiny bars at the ponts of rider contacts and wipe the bars too. Put the top of the burner back> BE CAREFUL!! Use a magnet driver and then repower and try to read a known good dvd. You will have to do this more in the future, you understand, dist dirt etc in the air. Put the top back on. Enjoy.
I need to find a firmware upgrade for govideo vr3845a
Try this: Find a vr3845b and use the "b" model as a filter to kill the copy protect. Antenna in to the "b", out to tv goes to antenna in on the "A" model, then "out to tv" now really does go to the tv. Works for me, but I am not sure if the clean " tv " signal is created by any or all dvd recorders. Give it a try. Good Luck
