some discs don't work in some recorders. I always use verbatim, ritek or tdk discs and have very few problems. if the recorder suddenly dislikes a batch of one brand, I'll use one of the others.

I've just answered this. please don't post the same question more than once, it doesn't help. I've just wasted time answering this instead of someone who needs help.

What speed of disk did you use? On my older machine if I use faster than 4X it will not accept the disk. Check out your disk an see if the record speed is to fast for the machine.

maybe you forgot to connect the RCA cord for the audio part while you are recording...

Three problems could exist here.
1 the disc has not been finalised
2 the disc may have not been properly formatted to play in a dvd player ( use disc authoring program like DVD Shrink etc)
3 the DVD burner may be on its way out.

The only verification is to try the disc in a friends DVD player (different make/model of course)
I would assume you are burning them "code free" of course, if not there will be a region code on the back of your DVD player. (square with a number from 1 to 6 in it)

Im sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the majority of universal remotes are generic models made from a standard set of codes, so in many cases the codes wont work when they are meant to, be it because its meant for a different software version or it simply wont send a recognizable signal to your units IR sensor. The best bet is to either source a replacement reccomended by the company that makes the product or to sell it and buy a new one with a working remote. Sorry.

This would be the Dvd recorder showing signs of a bad laser. Things you can try:

1. clean the unit with one of those Cd player cleaning kits.
2. Replace the laser and mechanism.
3. buy a new unit

The issues here a relevant to a bad laser and can and will do this to you when there are signs of issues.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, on your posted concern of AUTO STOP, 3 possibilities:
  • the VHS material is copyrighted and the Macrovision protection system kicked in to prevent material duplication;
  • the DVD is not recognized by the unit or requires initial formatting;
  • the DVD is not blank or no longer has space to be recorded on.

Offhand, to determine which, try another VHS tape and / or a different disc.

Alternately, should problem persist, consider doing a reset:
  • eject disc / tape;
  • press and hold STOP on the unit for 5 seconds.
Postback any update(s).

Good luck and thank youo for asking FixYa.

Sounds like your computer only reads certain disc's like dvd-r or dvd+r check to see if the burned disc is the same as the original? Second Could be that you really did not finalize? good luck, safety first..
