Power supply light flashing green
Most computer testing facilities will test your current power supply for free. A replacement is very inexpensive to replace. Bestbuy, MicroCenter, small computer shops and buy replacemnent from Amazon.com, newegg.com.. Just make sure you have the correct information for your replacement. The model number on the power supply would be your best bet in most cases. Good luck and have a great day. I buy power supplies as low as $15 dollars Generic If you need further help, I’m available over the phone at

PC fails to power up
The power supply is very inexpensive and can most likely be bought from any of your computer retailers, Amazon - Just make sure to confirm the right model type of power supply. BEST to have it tested before replacing it. To make sure that is the issue.. Many computer shops will test for free. If you need further help, I’m available over the phone at

What would cause monitor to show white screen when pc is booted up?
Will the monitor go into it's own config screen ? If not, it could be defective. You said it displayed a white screen so it is not likely that the brightness control is turned way down.Check that the monitor is connected correctly to the system. Try another monitor that is known to be good. Does the monitor work on another system, say a laptop or another desktop?Windows will boot up without a monitor and if you are running any servers on it, you can try to connect over your LAN. If the computer takes it's IP address from a local router, you can check the router status screens to see if the address is in use. That would prove Windows is running and that the monitor could be the problem.Used monitors are not expensive these days so they are easy to replace. You should have multiple monitors anyway. This is the 21st century, not the twentieth when screen size revealed your pay grade in the organization.

Power light on computer flashes..tried
If you didn't accidentally unplug the four pin connector near the CPU, you need to replace the power supply. This is actually a fairly common occurrence with the cheap ATX power supplies being tossed into systems these days.

The power supply cant perform the computer
If your referring to the lack of power. A 250 watts power supply is relatively old compared to the new power supplys on the market today. With technology booming these days more and more demand for power on desktops is needed to run more devices. An upgrade in power supply is fairly inexpensive these days and very easy to change. You can find one at any local electronics store. My suggestion would be to order online and get a much better price. Cost should be from the ranger of around 24.00 and up depending on where you buy and what manufacturer.I would suggest a minimum of 500 watts. Good luck to you and thanks for visiting FixYa.com.
Sincerely,

I have an hp pavilian
Whom ever told you too: "Unplug the cpu while holding down the power button".
Is telling you something that can
"seriously damage" your cpu and computer.
Or did you mean "PSU" if so there is a particular format to do a Power supply check.
For the proper way use this link:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=bph06788&lc=en&cc=us&product=405227&dlc=en&lang=en#N207Also many other things can cause the problems your having. Could be your motherboard too.
If this does not work, post again be sure to include HP Pavillion Model number and Operating System (i.e. XP, 7 or Vista) that way we can help pin point your system needs. Also have you done any internal repairs lately? Recheck all your connections too.
If you find this helpful please vote.

I have a burned out Bestec ATX-250-12z power supply
yes it should do provided your current psu is not a small mATX one. ATX power supplies are pretty generic. Make sure you get one that has enough connectors to suit your system, having said that, Considering it's an off the shelf PC I would guess most PSU's would have the right number and type of connections.

The described problem might not be the Power Supply Unit, there are a number of different reasons that may cause this symptom. Consulting HP would be advisable.
