After power outage my compaq s6300nx did the same thing, I used the link the Guest left and it help alot, Turns out my vid card is to big and I need to upgrade power supply, thats the hard part seems as if compaq/hp would rather you just buy a new pc for hunfreds of $ instead of upgrading. I keep being told the power supplys for this model is proprietry, which means I have to keep using since HP doesnt sell a higher watt psu for this. So far I bought 3 different ones.

The described problem might not be the Power Supply Unit, there are a number of different reasons that may cause this symptom. Consulting HP would be advisable.

My problem is that there was a recent blackout and when the power came back on my computer did not turn back on the back of the desktop is displaying a flashing green light instead of solid green. Any...

Bad Power Supply. Weak voltage power rail.

The Green LED flashing on the back is now a diagnostic light, and is conveying the above.

Allow me to show you using HP as an example,

Power supply light is on or flashes

What is the computer manufacturer name, and Model Number?
(Back of the desktop computer tower next to the Windows product key, or up on the side of the computer tower)

Green light is flashing in back of computer but it will not turn on

if the green light you're mentioning came from the power supply, you need to replace it. green light flashes from the LED at the back of the power supple serves as an indicator if you have a good or a faulty power supply.

Power light flashs off and on and pc clicks

Most newer models of Dell computers now have a diagnostic LED surrounding the power button on the from of the computer. When you press the power button to boot the PC, the light should be green and remain green under normal circumstances. Any other lights will help you troubleshoot the power issue you are having.
A solid green light means the computer is operating normally.
A solid yellow light indicates the power supply is operating normally but the computer is not processing data. This could mean there is a problem with the CPu or another component on the motherboard.
A blinking yellow light indicates the power supply is receiving power from the wall, but not functioning properly. This generally means the power supply itself is bad and should be tested or replaced.
A blinking green light means the computer is in standby mode.

So use the LED power light codes if your Dell computer has them. Also pay attention to any unusual beeps or sounds coming from the computer. Well, I was sure that the voltage selection switch was in the right place. And I found it highly unlikely that the processor power cable would suddenly unseat itself. Ugh.
Then I had an idea. I flipped off the surge protector and then flipped it back on. Tada! No more orange lights. Weird. The moral of the story: try the simple stuff first.

I hope this helps and please dont forget to rate my answer. Thank you! :D

Compaq Presario SR2150NX doesn't turn on. Front panel green light turns on but nothing else happens (no fans, no boot, no noise, nothing) Please advice

On the back of the Power Supply there should be a Green LED, When you power it on if it is flashing, this means that the Power Supply is dead and you need to replace it.

Screen will not come on hard drive light no light checked power supply is ok

Things to check:
  1. Power led on the front of the tower, it should be solid green when on. Flashing Amber is generally an indication of a bad power supply inside the tower
  2. Power LED Solid AMBER indicates system is not finishing the power on self test (POST) and you remove all connections from the tower except power and try turning on again. If no change, remove all PCI and PCI-E cards from system, try again, no change replace motherboard.
  3. On the back of the tower are 4 diagnostic LEDs near the ps2 ports marked ABCD, after the POST, during a normal boot the will flash in several sequences and with boot is finished all 4 should be green. If they stop an a different pattern, then that indicates a failure Yellow Yellow Green Green indicate bad RAM for example
  4. If the LEDs on front and back are Green then the system appears to be booting but the monitor display is not functional

Computer will not load. I push the power button and it just runs.

Here are some things to check
  1. Power LED (It should be solid green) if flashing or solid Amber, then a power supply or motherboard problem.
  2. On the back, near the PS2 Ports, are 4 diagnostic LEDs marked ABCD. When running normally they are all green. During boot they flash on and off during each sequence of the POST, if they stop at t code AAGG for example is bad RAM
  3. If the Power and Diag LEDs are normal, then reseat the video card if an AGP card is installed or remove it an try the integrated video.

Green light flashing on back of unit near power cord also green light flashing on motherboard near power supply plug in.

I would suggest trying to replace the power supply. If that does not fix the issue, i would need to hear more about the computer.

When comp pluged in just a green flashing light

If you are sure that the 110 volt power is coming into the computer then the most likely problem is that th epower supply died. Obtain a new one of the same or larger wattagge as the one you are replacing . It does nto have to come from the manufacture of the computer.
