Monitor comes on speraticly and sometimes not at
zylphia, You will not FIX-IT with keystrokes on the keyboard or installing new software. Your LCD cold-cathode-fluorescent-lamp back-lit monitor also has a "switch-mode-power-supply" / and an on board or on another printed circuit board what is commonly known as the INVERTER which provides HI voltage 900vac to light the CCFLs so you can see all the pretty colors on your "LCD PANEL".. I suspect that your monitor has developed what is known as "thermally stressed" solder joint FRACTURE(s) and if left in that condition the unit will at some point in time fail to turn-on. Another common problem is FAILED electrolytic filter capacitors. To see just what one looks like, you should visit
www.ccl-la.com/badcaps.htm or query wikipedia for "capacitor plague" and read to your hearts content. Here are some other options!!! Pay some person a lot of money $35-$90 and maybe it can be repaired. Check to see if AOpen has a cash+old unit swapout for a REFURBISHED unit??? Trade in unit for new wide-screen LCD. Also visit YOUTUBE and view some of the vids on "LCD monitor repair" and "LCD monitor disassembly" FYOI. Read more of my responses to other people with same BLACK SCREEN problems. Hope this has been helpful to you. Bye for now. 12fixlouie north of Windy City

I want to disable user log in on an older computer
Hi walkertexr
You can clear the cmos, which will reset the password on the motherboard, by the following:
- Turn off the system and unplug the AC power.
- Remove the ATX Power Cable from the Connectore PWR2
- Locate the JP14 and short Pins 2-3 for a few seconds
- Return JP14 to it's normal setting by shorting pins 1-2.
- Connect the ATX Power Cable back to connector PWR2
- Plug in the ATX Power Cable back to the System,
That should do it. Here's a really bad picture but it should give you an idea of where the jumper is.
Good Luck,

My CD drive is unable to read a CD.plz help....
The lens of the cd drive might need to be cleaned. Open up your CD Rom's casing and unscrew the plate that covers the lens. Get a q tip or a soft cotton bud and damp into an alcohol. Gently wipe the lens and let it dry. Return everything back and try playing those CDs again.
If you need further assistance, please dont hesitate to ask me.
Need power cord to turn unit on. Is it a cable or
curvey, You tell me. LOOK at the back of the LCD monitor and tell me if you see a recessed rectangular hole with three big pins in a kinda triad position that will be the same as that which is on a full size desktop PC and connects the pc to the wall outlet or power strip. If you can't find one (top, bottom, side,)anywhere, then you need a lay on floor BLACK-BRICK ac to dc converter power supply that will fit into some hole on the monitor via a 3-4 pin connector that looks nothing like the ac line input connector on the PC. Hope this helped you out. Don't electrocute yourself!!! please rate this response on fixya. louie12fix on fixya. Bye.

No manual. what is what think I need lay out
You better get the user manual for that board. On the board it is printed what the name and model is. Use this information. Also can be seen as you start the system, if it will be before boot as the bios reads to the screen the info.
Blank screen get flashes, but then its all
When the LCD monitor display flickers and or has a black screen then the fault is usually a faulty inverter or the CCFL lamp. When you look at the screen at a sharp angle and you see a dim image then it is a backlight problem and it is caused by a faulty inverter or a CCFL lamp.

Mouse stops responding
I'm thinking there are some programs running in the background that shouldn't be running.
From Win XP, click on START>RUN and type msconfig
In Vista, just type msconfig in the space above the start button
Now go to the startup tab and uncheck the programs that are running at startup. Don't worry--you are not uninstalling them, just telling them not to run at startup. You can keep the ones that run your video and antivirus things like that. If you don't recognize them, don't worry. You can always go back into msconfig and check them to allow them to start up.
This will take some time, as it's a process of elimination.
This should fix it.
PLAYSTATION
Sorry to inform you that this is not realistically possible. You would not only need to swap out the lens, but also the laser. These days you can pick up a store brand dvd player for about $20 brand new. I imagine if you looked hard enough and sourced a dvd unit that would fit the in the ps1 case and worked on the supplied voltage of the console it COULD work. But, you would be spending $100+ on parts and having a nightmare of a time retro fitting a dvd laser unit that was not made for that system.
Moral of the story... Just buy a cheap DVD player and keep the PS1 around for memory. Or maybe sell the the PS1 for $20 and buy a DVD player :)
Good Luck!
My power supply failed. Now after replacing it
More than likely the power supply you bought isn't capable of handling the wattage demands of your system. If you do not get ANY indication from your video board (i.e. boot information), chances are the power supply is either too low on wattage output or it's defective.
My flat screen monitor will only come on and stay
Hello,
The problem you have is caused by one of two things,
either a blown power supply in the backlight inverter or bad backlight
bulbs. More than likely it is the bad power supply. The problem in the
power supply are parts called capacitors, they blow out because of the
heat trapped inside the monitor enclosure. If you can solder you should
be able to repair this type of problem. You can go to our web site at:
www.ccl-la.com/badcaps.htm
we have pictures of what the capacitors look like when they blow out.
Take the case off the back of your monitor and look for any that look
like the pictures. Replace all of the ones that are bad, the values of
the caps are printed on the side of each one. You can order replacement
caps from several places on the internet or contact us and we can
supply them for you. When installing the replacement caps be sure to
insert the new ones with the stripe on the side going the same way. If
you don't want to do the repairs yourself we offer a repair service. If
you have any additional questions just email me.
I hope this helps, if so please rate my solution.
