Kenwood how to connect
You need a stereo mini to RCA cable to connect the laptop's headphone audio jack to the Kenwood. Here is an example of one below. They are very common and available at just about any electronics store for a few bucks.

The Kenwood receiver should have a number of red and white "RCA" audio connectors on the back.
Just connect the RCA portion of the cable to a spare input. They should be clearly marked on the back of the unit and color coded (red for right channel and white for left channel). But it really doesn't matter if you mix the right and left up, it will still make sound.
EX:
Most receivers will have inputs that are labeled "CD" or "Aux" that you can connect any audio source to.
If you connect your laptop or an MP3 player to the audio input connections labeled "CD" behind the Kenwood receiver, you can listen to the device by selecting the CD as the source.
It is really easy!
Can i hook up an ipod to play on it?
Yes. You need a 1/8" stereo male to dual RCA patch cord (fairly easy to find in most audio stores) and put the 1/8" into the ipod's headphone jack, and the RCA's into the Kenwood's tape or AUX inputs.
Blinks on standby, won't start
Hi,
Try unplugging the unit for 60 minutes, then plug back in and try it again. This will reset the processor and hopefully the unit will operate normally. Check all the speaker wiring for shorts, make sure they're also not touching the chassis of the receiver, or are not otherwise pinched or frayed. If all looks well, try disconnecting all the speakers and cycle the power off, then on again. If this doesn't help, one thing you could do is inspect for cracked solder joints along the circuit boards, and also look for bulged or leaky capacitors.
It's near impossible to tell what exactly is wrong with the unit without opening it up and testing it to find the failed component. I mean it could be as simple as a capacitor that's shorted, or it could be a power supply issue. So, it's hard to judge what the repair would cost you. It could be anywhere from $80-$200.
If the unit shuts down with no load connected, fails to power up, or if you have "protect" on the screen, then the unit has a bad output transistor, or capacitor and is in need of service. I can send you the contact info for a Service Center near you if you would like.
Let me know,if needed further assistance.
Hope i helped you.
Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!
I have a ps3 and a samsung flatscreen im using an
Connect cables from your flatscreen TV (or monitor?) to the receiver's audio input jacks. These could be two RCA, white and red, or Digital (one single RCA cable), or optical, if both the flatscreen and the receiver have such connector. Make sure you select the correct audio input on the receiver to amplfy the sound from the game/movie/etc.
If successful, try muting the TV's audio, to prevent the sound from creating a hollow (echo) effect.
Good luck!
Kenwood VR-305 receiver surround speakers will not work
make sure that all input cables are in the correct positon also make sure that any inputs you are using don't have a macrovision in them that will also kill your sound due to copyright laws and stuff but main thing check all wires coming in to receiver and if you need more inputs go to walmart and get a rca splitter basicaly its a 1 in two out connection to add more cables in the input
