Actually this is on page 80 of your manual. Called Macro shooting, you can come as close as 2.8". When the mode dial is on most settings, you have to press the little button above the display with the flower several times. on the display a flower should be visible. To come close to a subject, put the zoom in wide angle. Actually, if you read it from the manual it will be very clear and saves me about half an hour typing. The menial is still available online for free.

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use Windows Photo Gallery or any other photo cataloging program.

Try to get it repaired from a camera store. Your camera can use two types of power either four AA's or two of the Olympus type CR-V3 batteries. If you don't have batteries for it now I'd suggest purchasing a four battery set with charger and an extra set of four rechargeable so you have a total of eight rechargeable batteries. That way you can be using a set of batteries while another set is on the charger.

Hi, The camera is rated to take cards up to 256mb so that rules out your 1GB card. Try confirming the 128meg card works in a different camera.

Why not use a separate card reader instead of your camera?

Try to return the camera. The fix is too expensive.

Photo lens cleaner and a microfiber cloth used gently will work. A handier solution that you could carry with you is a product called "lenspen". If there's a photo store nearby, they would have it in stock. You could also find one at amazon.com
