Olympus Camedia Stylus 300 Digital Camera Questions & Answers
First, try a factory reset on the camera just to be sure it's not something that easy to fix. Also, format any SD cards first in your PC and then format them in the camera if it will allow it.
If that doesn't work make sure the pins inside the card slot are not dirty or damaged. You'll need a strong light and maybe some magnifying glasses. Try blowing a burst of canned air inside but make sure you're holding the can level so you don't spray the propellent.

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.
The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.
Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo management program such as Picasa (
http://picasa.google.com ).

Although the XD picture memory card is one of the newest formats, it is still available at many department, office supply, and photo shops. Among these locations is WalMart (electronics dept.) and Staples Office Supply. If you prefer to shop online you should have no problems finding the card at Ebay, Amazon.com, and Tiger Direct.

Once you get a separate card reader and see how easy and fast it is to work with, you'll wonder why you never used one before.

In playback mode press >ok< select >mode menu< with the 4-arrow-pad, then select >card< then >card setup< then press the PLAY button below the arrow pad. Select >all erase< with the up/down buttons of the 4-arrow-pad and then press OK (the button beside the PLAY button). Confirm by selecting >yes< with the up/down button and press OK button again.
It's also a good habit to get into, to format the card after deleting the images (you can also just format the card - that will also delete all photos). To format the card start as above (Mode menu; card; card setup; press PLAY). Select >format< with up/down buttons then press OK. Select >yes< and press OK.
Hope that helps

You may need to format the card in the camera. This will erase it so download any pics from it first using a card reader.

If the menus work, that tells you the LCD is OK, so the next possible thing is the shutter is jammed shut - marginal repair now.

Hello
The problem is that the lens has become stuck in the
barrel after dropping it. There are some DIY solutions you could try,
but the probability is that you will have to get it fixed by a
professional.
Use these at own risk as it may further damage the camera.
Firstly , try connecting your ac adapter or usb cable.
Try holding the shutter button while switching on the camera.
Look
at the lens , and if some of the lens 'circles' is misaligned or not
concentric then try wiggling it (while holding camera lens down).
Try
gently pushing or pulling the lens when it extends but this is risky as
it may cause the lens barrel to slip out of its guidance system.
Another
way to do this is to place the camera lens down on a hard surface and
then power it up. Be sure to use a soft cloth or something similar as
to not scratch your lens or casing. Let the lens push the camera up and
down a few times and sometimes the little resistance provided by the
camera is enough to get things going again.
Try hitting your camera near the lens on the body with the soft tissue on the palm of your hand.
Other
than that , I would take the camera to a repair center for a evaluation
to see if it would cost more to repair than to replace the camera.
If
it is still under warranty I would suggest you take it in before trying
any of these steps and remove any off-brand batteries or accessories as
some stores are really fussy about warranty repairs on camera's with
non-brand accessories.
Hope the advise is useful.
Regards
Andrea

Try using brand new fully charged rechargeable batteries like NiMH or NiCd. Also try viewing though the computer via USB.

Have you read your manual? To view your pics, just press the right facing arrow button. To delete one, just press the button with the garbage can icon and follow the on-screen instructions.
