No that is not an adjustment issue it is a broadcast issue, the aspect ratio is not able to display on the TV properly.

Alot of the older RCA chassis required you to press 00, 91, or 92 to get to the external video input.

HelloCheck first whether mute function is ON or not. If it is ON, make it OFF. If mute is OFF and still there is no sound from your TV, connect it to any other audio output sources, like an external amplifier or so, by connecting TVs external audio out sockets at its back and see whether there is sound output form amp. If not, make sure that the audio processing section circuits inside your tV is fulty. If there is soudn from amp, and not from the TV, check the speaker of the TV. If it is ok, then audio output section circuit of your TV is faulty, and need repair. OK.

To solve my problem I use an universal remote, but I have to press the number 00 and automaticaly I pass to Video mode... It doesn't work with the "input mode" on the universal remote...

Try to adjust the picture adjustment at the menu setting and at the screen controller at the flyback.Thanks..

I believe what you have is a solenoid that goes bad and is very famous for this especially RCA's . The little solenoid up by the power button on front of the tv is where it is located ,a lot of times you can tap on it and it will work if it is just stuck if it is dead than a tap wont do it. Get one at the appliance store or the tv shop thats honest and you can just wire it in yourself. You can wire around it but you better know what you are doing.
What happens is the little sound like a click when the tv comes on is the sound of the solenoid cliccking,Ive also seen people get it working without the solenoid (wire around it and use a outlet remote to turn off and on the tv. Good luck

You will need to have the original remote or in this case an RCA universal remote with an input button on it! These are still available in the major discount houses. Thanks for asking and show a few hands of support.

You can try channeling up or down to get to channel 99.Rca in the past has used this to get to the video input. If this does not work you can buy a universal remote. In most cases, after programming the universal remote the major functions such as channel select, volume control and input select will work.

Usually if it is bad, set is dead and if you look from the bottom you may find a short from the last two pins which are apart from the rest of the pins.

If you are looking for the part only----On Ebay select advanced search, then search by seller---select: sewsales55 which is Suburban Electronics; they will have it or the one that now subs for it.

I still carry several although I do not see many of those sets now.

I believe that channel 00 switches the set to the A/V inputs on the rear panel. You may have a bad cable or loose connection. Make sure the RCA plugs are firmly in the jacks at both ends.

The trouble may also be in the VCR. Sound but no picture is often a symptom of dirty heads. Try using a wet-type cleaning cassette and see if that brings the picture back. Wet-type cleaners come with a bottle of cleaning fluid which you apply to the strip inside. It's much more effective than dry type cleaners.

for what remote?

try unplugging and plugging back in 2 minutes later. go to menu and find channel selection. scroll down to where it says channel. then using volume up and down buttons. will add or erase channel. just play with it and you will see what im talking about. go to channel 4 and press volume up. this will save channel 4 in memory. if no work, try turn on video souce and do a auto program in menu. fixed. enjoy!

try putting the tv on channel 00, that is where this tv apparently shows the input from at least one on the video channels.

for starters what brand is it? just match the brand remote up with it.........otherwise, go buy a universal remote:P

My set of the same model shows a build date of 1998. New 27 inch basic sets sell for 100+/- on sale at varius stores. I'ld say the value is no more than $25. for a 9/10 year old working table model TV

sounds like the Power Transformer to me,  usually accompanied by a high pitch (almost inaudiable whine) and  sparks arcing.

 

This needs a professional repair..

 

 

first off how good are you with a solder iron ? beside the obvious rf connector problem these set's had problems with bad solder connections within the tuner itself. google( sam goldwasser repair faq) for the solder template.

Try to check the power supply output side where anything could came into contact with positive and negative line for which when you press play button then it shuts down.
