Offhand, the "red light blinking" indicates that the unit has switched to protection mode. On some models, the number and sequence of flashes indicates the general area of the fault and where initial diagnosis can begin. Eventually the unit has to be opened up for a look and see. This of course would require a fair familiarity of electronic components/circuitry and safety procedures, use of a DVM and a soldering iron. It would be to your added advantage access to a service manual or at the very least a schematic diagram with voltage readings. Should you be uncomfortable performing a DIY (do-it-yourself), perhaps your best bet would then be to seek the services of a qualified professional.

Incidentally, in the hope that this is a simple glitch, perhaps you can try unplugging from the mains and removing all connectors. After an extended period, reconnect and verify connections and try again. Although in cases where "crackling sound" was heard may just aggravate the problem. The "crackling sound" indicates a major component has failed.

Two replace a verticale ic which is common for verticale problem.. It requires replacing a part not adjustment . I charge at my office is around 95,00 dollars to 120.00 dollars.

You may have a couple of problems here.. It souds as the tuner is intermittant and a common capacitor in the power supply is bad.. Depending on the chassis, and I think its a CTC 185 I think if your handy you can get a fully repaired board for this set at http://ptscorp.com. If you have no tv reoair exoerience, you should give back the set and be done with it. Its all up to you. This set will most likly cost 200 to 225 to have a shop repair it and I think itys not worth that. Good Luck

your going to need to do a resolder of dry looking solder jobs and or poor solder jobs
this could also be your front control board , try disconnecting it and see if the tv stays on
it is possible that the sensor has gone bad or the crystal needs to be replace or worse the EEPROM
my rca 27 in was doing the same thing , i resoldered the board and it worked great for 7 months
so do a resolder of all suspicious solder and heated components
then let me know what happens
also what is your model # for your rca tv ?
also one of rca's kits for repair is some solder and paste , so that should tell you something in its self about rca repairs ( the solder with the paste is supposed to make it handel heat better )

ok try this , unplug the front control board , if it stays on then thats the problem , but if it don't , then you will need to check the components around the EEPROM and resolder all components that heat up, it is possible that the crystal and EEPROM may need to be replaced but doing these other things plus a couple of more checks will help find the culprit
also make sure all work is good, resolder and recheck are the best way to eliminate any problems

Check Regulator for 132V +-. Check for 32kv at CRT anode. Try lowering screen control on the flyback.

hello my friend,this tv uses a switched mode power supply that's the first thing i would check and the horizontal drive xtor is a common problem on this tvs

Maybe the menu set-up got adjusted somehow. Use the remote or on TV menu buttons and go to picture using the ch+ and ch- increse the color. I hope it's that simple.

Ok, I stopped short of going to Best Buy to get a new TV b/c my DAD suggested I pull the DVD player on another tv.

Dang it, he was right!. Same "audio no video" problem.

After playing with multiple buttons shooting blindly I found the [ I/P ] button restored the picture immediately!

So, my Dad says that "TV s are based on the interlacing" technology. I must have picked progressive scan while I was in the dark fast forwarding last week.

I had the same problem, on the channels that have SAP go to your menu and switch them to stereo,the channels are in stereo but you have them on SAP

Reset your TV, and then when it turns on, it will be all set. Not restart, RESET.
