Hi... I recently acquired this tv for "storage" until my friend has more room. She reported that the screen would go to black and white after a while but if you turned it off and on (sometimes several times) it would go back. Well, I connected it to my satellite/dvd and it worked fine except after several hours of being idle my dvd shuts off and it causes an "unusable signal" screen to appear on the tv even after I turned the dvd back on. I could do the on/off thing several times and it would restore the picture; however, now it doesn't seem to want to reset itself (if thats what you call it)and show a picture at all. I tried running it through where the dvd doesnt have to be on but it would not read the signal at all except briefly when I first hooked it up but after that it kept saying unusable signal. It does work if I run directly from satellite box to the tv but I like to record several programs so using that route is not an option for me. I have an old Sylvania that works like a charm through the same set up but it's only 19" however, the picture is much better. I expect this RCA problem involves the tuning but I can't seem to get it to read the outputs. I have tried output 1 with absolute no success so the set up I described above is through the front/side output. Hope someone can help....it's kinda nice to watch a larger screen tv, but not if I have to constantly adjust it!!! At least I have the old tv up and running for the moment. Again, thanks for any help!
You may have a couple of problems here.. It souds as the tuner is intermittant and a common capacitor in the power supply is bad.. Depending on the chassis, and I think its a CTC 185 I think if your handy you can get a fully repaired board for this set at http://ptscorp.com. If you have no tv reoair exoerience, you should give back the set and be done with it. Its all up to you. This set will most likly cost 200 to 225 to have a shop repair it and I think itys not worth that. Good Luck

Thanks for your help, I appreciate it. The chassis is ITC 008FBK. I'm somewhat handy but no tv repair experience so I'll just leave it alone!
I have a 32' R.C.A. T.V. and just today it has started turning off and on by itself every few seconds. Every now and a then I can see a box pop up that says Time needs to be restored. What do I do to fix this.
