Bad thermo switch sensor

It has a thermostat that should shut it down, locate and clean if you can, try again , if it still is doing that have the temp sensor replaced

You may have to bleed some more air out of the system.

Your ODS pilot may be clogged with dust or lint and needs to be blown out with air(less than 30 psi).

Your regulator or gas valve may be faulty.

Usually, all the modification needed is to change the gas orifice like you do when converting water heaters from one type to another.

If your heater does not stay burning then you should check each of the internal components over to ensure that they are working properly. Look at your heater's manual to do this. Failing this, the best thing to do is to buy a new one as the cost of repairing one can cost loads of money. Good luck :)

Should be 3/8 so you want to have a small 3/8 nipple and a 3/8 x 1/2 reducer.

You must have some kind of flame sensor and it sounds as though it is not working correctly. If the pilot lights and then goes off, I would look there first. Good luck...Lee

gas valves on desa units are not field serviceable.it must be replaced if defective.

If you have a pilot, you have a thermocouple. I would start with the thermocouple. The thermocouple is supposed to be heated by the piolet and to keep the pilot gas on. If it is faulty, the pilot will quit and the heater will not reignite until you light it again. Good luck...Lee

sounds like an obstruction in pilot assembly.try using canned compressed air to blow directly into pilot. this technique is successful about 70%. if not,pilot assembly must be removed and cleaned thorougly
