Bobbin is stuck on bobbin winder in singer 7470. It is fully wound and I can not lift it up off the post. It has been stuck for several month now. I have moved the post position to the left and back and tried to push in on the little metal part on the post above the bobbin that holds it in place.

Singer indicates that the 2430 to the Merritt 2404. The Merritt 2404 manual is available on the Singer support site: https://www.singer.com/support . The current link to this manual is https://www.singer.com/sites/default/files/product_manual/9bb8bc029ac33374a16f6ef37fdb37c14c7a8356_0.pdf . To wind the bobbin, make sure that the needle is up and lift the presser foot. Hold the hand wheel with one hand and keep it from moving. With the other hand, loosen the knob in the center of the hand wheel by turning the knob towards you. If the thread is not already on the spool pin, place it on the spool pin with the thread retaining slit to the right. Put the spool holder on the spool pin so that it holds the spool firmly.
Next snap the thread through the thread guide post and open the top cover. (If you have been sewing with the spool, unthread the upper thread back to the guide post.) Wrap the thread the bobbin tension disc going clockwise as you look at the top of the disc. (Bring the thread in front of the machine as you move to the left; then bring around to the back as you bring it to the bobbin winder.) Bring the thread up through the hole in the bobbin. Place the bobbin on the spindle with the hole up. Move the bobbin winder to the right. Hold onto the thread above the bobbin while you start winding the bobbin. After a few turns are on the bobbin, you can let go. After the bobbin is full (or full enough for your task), clip the thread and remove the bobbin. Move the bobbin winder to the left. Tighten the knob in the hand wheel by turning it away from you while holding the hand wheel.
Sandy, I'm not familiar with IZEK machines, but it sounds like the bobbin winder has not correctly disengaged. Put it back into bobbin winding mode and run it (no need to wind a bobbin, just check that the bobbin winder turns), then stop and disengage the bobbin winder and try sewing again. Hope this solves it for you. If it won't turn the bobbin winder either then it may have slipped or broken the drive belt and you will need to take it to your local sewing centre.
Hi, not familiar with this machine, but a few tips -
Unthread the machine fully. Remove the bobbin. Is the bobbin thread the same as the top thread? Is it a Quality thread (yes, cheapie thread can give big issues!!) Do you have several different threads wound onto the bobbin?? Is the bobbin thread wound on quite tight? If you push your finger nail into the thread wound onto the bobbin, it must not feel soft or spongy. .... hope this in general helps some!
Three possible causes: 1.Bobbin not push fully down the bobbin winder spindle 2.Need to push bobbin winder spindle to the left before you can wind the bobbin 3.The bobbin winder spindle rubber ring has worn out. This will need a local technician to fix it.
The bobbin may be stripped, or the bobbin winder might be stripped; try it with a different bobbin, to rule out the bobbin being the issue; if that doesn't work, look closely at the bobbin winder to see if it has been damaged. You may be able to adjust it's shape with a pliers
Noisy top bobbin winders is usually caused by no oil on the spindle, or the noise could be coming from a dry top shaft under the balance wheel which is very common
If, it is a plastic bobbin and you mean the bobbin thread is too tight and the bobbin will not move, take a art razor blade and start cutting the thread to release it. Sometimes, the plastic grabs the spindle when it is wound too tight, you may have to take pliers and break the bobbin to get it off.
It should just pull off of the winder shaft. There is a small spring that sticks out from the shaft to hold the bobbin in place (at least on my wife's Viking which is a different model number than yours). Is there a release button somewhere near?
Recently had same problem. Underneath the bobbin area on the bottom of the machine is a small white plastic piece that resembles a fan. Singer calls this the bobbin cam actuator. It is usually cracked along the sleeve that fits over the metal pin, bar? This is the mechanism that lifts the bobbin when it is wound. When its broken it can't lift the bobbin to be wound properly.
